I am a huge pizza snob. I eat it all the time. I make my own pizza. This is the first time I have had a slice that I like as much as my own. Excellent stuff. I had a red slice (cheese/regular) and a pepperoni. The cheese slice was top tier. I ordered it well done/extra crispy and would do that again.
Two knocks (that are nitpicks not worth removing a star):
The pepperoni is a little sloppy, it would be much better if it was precooked to get it crispier and less greasy. It made the pepperoni slice a lot softer and goopier.
They cook on wire racks rather than launching from wood directly into the oven.
If the red/cheese/regular wasn’t so excellent I’d knock a star off for each of the above.
I’m in town for a week and will be eating at ALVO...
Read moreI came in on a rainy Wednesday a little bit before closing. The service was nice and I hate to do it but the crust on my slice tasted a mix of burnt and freezer burned. I looked on the bottom and saw that they use screens instead of sliding the pizza off a peel like a traditional pizzeria. I paid $4.00 for a small cheese slice that looks like it comes from an 16-18 inch pie when traditionally a slice that cost $4.00 is from a 20 inch pie. I wish these guys the best, but it wasn't my jam. I'll return to try it again and update this review...
Read moreI’m a harsh food critic. I keep everything to the standards of my pallet. The slice of pizza was mediocre the regular cheese slice which I believe was the red slice or something like that was horrible. Then they have a slice with American cheese that makes no sense. Why put American cheese on a pizza, the pizza was disgusting. I could not eat it. Honestly, I would never go here again not even if I was dying of hunger. This place is for people who don’t believe in seasoning or taste. DO NOT GO HERE TO...
