So two times this week we went to Bay Ridge Bakery and had pastries and spent a lot of money both times. Both times I commended I customer service of the two sweet ladies who were extremely kind, helpful and patient and left saying "now THAT'S customer service." (Hence why we returned a few times in one week)
I'm very specific when I go to bakeries and ask for certain ones because I know from other business owners and working at a bakery for a bit when I was 14 that they put the fresh pastries in the front and the older ones in the back. So we go in there on the way home tonight, and I ask for a pastry that's in the front. A different girl from the other two times said that she couldn't get a pastry from the front. I said well they did it for us twice this week, so she went to the back and returned with a man who seemed to be the owner. I told him I wanted a specific pastry. He said "no, we can't do it." I said "why not? We were here twice this week and the customer service was amazing and we were given what we asked for." He replied with "never ever ever." I'm like "What do you mean never ever ever? I'm a paying customer asking for a certain pastry, because I'm the one paying for it and providing you business and you're telling me no"? So he said "we can't do it because it will ruin the layout of the way the pastries look" I'm like "you can just gently push them forward just like the other sweet lady did". The young girl says "who was it? Because she should get in trouble." And the man says "yes who was this. Because that is not allowed and she will get in big trouble." So I said "absolutely not. Why would I tell you who it was? Shes gonna get "in trouble" for providing amazing customer service, and you are not?" So I say "you know what ok then, nevermind then if I'm not going to receive what I would be paying for" and proceed to exit the bakery. He follows us as we are walking out and says "you know what, I don't think you were planning on buying anything."
What in the actual f is wrong with people?! What happened to good customer service? And what happened to pleasing your customers, especially when it's a food item that is on display and you have every right to request a specific one? We just became customers there and he chose to not receive our business and make a whole 7 minute ordeal about it, whereas it would have taken 10 seconds to just give me the pastry...
Read moreTruly a bad experience , Customers be aware!!! They got a license to steal during the holidays!! First we have been ordering birthday cakes for the family from them for years! The price was fair, the staff were nice, but until yesterday when we trying to order a cake for our daughter âs birthday on Christmas Eve, when we asked to order a simple 8 inch cake with flowers for a little girl, they said it will cost $45, normally something like this probably cost $25, and the owner said they are not going to accept any orders! However after we told them we had been ordering birthday cake during Christmas time for the last 6years , and we did finally put down $20 deposit for the cake, but over night we have to cancel the order because something has come up we are not going to be home for this holiday and of course the birthday cake that we had ordered will have to be canceled but when we went back to the bakery and asked for a cancellation and refund, they wonât do it, the staff said she have no problems with the refund, just the owner, they are not allowed to give a refund, but where is my cake?I just ordered it yesterday and you donât even make my cake yet! Why you canât refund my money??? This is the last time we come to the bakery for anything, especially with the ownerâs refuse customerâs order!!!
The order was with you come on now!!! My husband ordered the cake yesterday in the early afternoon probably around 11:00am.He told the owners wife who wears glasses what size cake and what date it was for along with the cashier. We wanted it to say Happy Birthday Kaylee!!!! My husband specifically said the cake size would be for 7-10 people not 20!! My husbands name is Paul and he cancelled it this morning and used the $20. Store credit to...
Read moreI really like the quality of the sweets here. Cakes are delicious and fresh while being reasonably priced. I bought a fruit tart on Christmas day and it was made fresh at 11:30am.
I hope this place never closes. Times are tough and I would gladly pay twice the prices they charge for their professionally and made-with-love sweets. Thank you guys for being open on Christmas day 2020. Merry Christmas.
2/15/2021 update. It's presidents day and they are not only open but open until 8pm. It happens to be my younger son's birthday. I love their family business traditional feel inside and the courtesy and professionalism of their staff is so refreshing everytime I visit. I bought a birthday cake for my son for $24 dollars that is a work of art and is what he wants and bigger than my entire family can finish in one sitting. They are amazing. Try them. You won't regret it even if you aren't a...
