Not going to lie, we initially planned on going to a place that had better reviews, but when we found out it was more of a bar than an actual restaurant, we settled on this place. It wasn't busy so we thought, okay, maybe we're just going to like it because we're starving. With that being said, we were pleasantly surprised. The hostess up front was very kind and welcoming. The manager (or whom I assume is the manager) greeted us at the front door. We were seated within 10 minutes (party of 9 so we expected to wait a little). It's cute inside, very dinery - like 5 & Diner or Johnny Rockets. We ordered burgers, foot long hot dogs, chili cheese fries, and onion rings. Everyone who ordered a burger said it was probably the best burger they'd ever had. I had chilli cheese fries. They were good, but it would have been nice to have cheese on top of the chili or layered instead of just cheese on the fries and then covered in chili. They were good, but I didn't get "cheese" until I scraped off most of the chili. The chili also has a little spice, so be prepared for that. The onion rings were really good. For dessert we got cookies n cream milkshakes. Those were freaking delicious. I don't even like ice cream and I finished mine. The cherry on top, no pun intended, was the other manager (again, assuming these guys in suits and nice smelling cologne are the managers) was walking around sweeping under the tables. Our 18m old made a mess and while that's to be expected, we don't expect people to clean up after her. We try to pick up most of it ourselves. When I told the manager that, he told me "You don't need to clean up after her at Bill's Bar and Burger, that's what we're here for. Just enjoy your meal." I'm not from NY so I don't know if this is their slogan or what, but it was kind and nice to hear. On our way out, that same manager helped our friend figure out which subway to take to get back to their hotel. All in all, the service at this place is top notch. They were kind and accommodating, that in itself deserves * plus recognition. Try them...
Read moreYou'd honestly have to try and make an effort to screw up this bad! Was staying in the attached hotel and ordered from my room for pickup. Was told 15min, went down then, and waited another 15min for it to actually be ready. Returned to my room to discover the order was all wrong. Went back down to the restaurant, explained, they dissappeared in the back and gave me another bag apologizing and saying it was there but there was a mixup with part of the order, here's the rest. I asked at this moment to confirm that the extra acoutrements I added and paid for were also on this burger and she said yes. Went back to my room, only to discover they were missing. 3rd trip back down to the restaurant, and now 45 minutes after I initially placed the order. This time I asked for the manager. I explained how ridiculous this was becoming and asked why it was so hard to complete a simple order. To his credit he sprung into action, appeared to personally handle my order in the back, came back expeditously, apologized, and refunded me too. Because he handled this appropriately I am adding the extra star but otherwise I was so frustrated and turned off by the third trip back to the restaurant that I probably won't be dining there again even though I frequent the hotel. On top of all this, there were 3 other people standing in the entrance area also waiting for takeout orders and after hearing my situation they proceeded to explain to me that they too were having issues getting their food. The one pair were just waiting for milkshakes and when they inquired with the server that returned to the desk there, she seemed confused and completely disorganized which would explain how I ended up in this mess! It's too bad. Perhaps more training or staff better equipped to handle multitasking would be necessary as the restaurant itself was not busy at all...
Read moreFood is great! Visiting New York for over a week, I went to Bill's restaurant twice and I'll be honest, the first time I went I got an omelet for breakfast and omg, I swear it was the best omelet I ever tried. But the server were kinda rude I guess, he wouldn't say you're welcome when I said thank you, and every time I raised my hand to ask him for napkins or straw or just ask him about the menu, he would looked at me like bothered, short answers I'm a low voice, he made feel uncomfortable, like unwelcome, the worst part was when I wanted to pay, I gave him a 100 bill, so he came back with change and when I was about to leave, he stopped me like "hey ma'am! You still hace a bill to pay, I didn't take nothing from there (the 100 bill)" So i said "Well that's why I gave you a 100 bill" he replied "yeah but I haven't took nothing from there yet" He confused me but I pull my card and told him to take the pay from there, I already had his tip enrolled on the bill. The second time I thought it would be different so I decided to take another chance (cuz' the food is delicious) The girl that gave me a table was so nice and kind. But the server (a different one from the first time) probably wasn't paying attention, I asked for a burguer with no pickles, fries and coke. He didn't gave me a straw, and the burguer had a bunch o pickles on it 🙄 no napkins, I had to get up from table to ask for a straw and napkins because he never got back to table to ask if everything was okay. I understand that they got alot of people everyday, but the could put attention to what the customer wants to, it's not like we ask for free food. But yeah the ladies are such nice all of them, but some of the guys can make you feel very...
