Was very excited to try birdee once I heard about it. I finally made it out 6/14 - surprisingly on a Saturday, there was no line at all when we arrived.
The space is very beautiful. The inside is gorgeous. The layout is fantastic.
But it kinda ends there.
Selections at the time we arrived, were either slim or just not what I was hoping to see.
We opted for chocolate croissant, lemon meringue, heirloom tart, BEC.
As I was waiting for my sandwich, it’s been about 10min now. I’m standing in middle of store , hovering over people dining in. I hate doing that. I walked up to cashier and asked him where I should be standing so I know when my order comes out. He let me know finally where to expect it.
It’s now pushing over 20min that I’m waiting for basic bacon egg and cheese. I kept hearing the name Jessica being called every other minute. Something in me tells me, they probably messed up. So I walk up the counter again to inquire about my order.
I let them know I keep hearing Jessica but Jessica clearly is nowhere to be found. Am I Jessica???? He asks me for my name , does a quick run to cashier, heads back, says they got my name wrong and pushes the sandwich towards me and walks away.
The sandwich that has been sitting on the counter for about 12min now, trapped in an enclosed container with no holes, steaming up, getting soggy and soft.
You would expect they offer to remake the sandwich so that it would be FRESH! They didn’t.
So I called him back, and kindly asked for a refund and I don’t want it as it’s been sitting out for a while.
Manager walks over then; not sure why he did because no apology was offered, no accountability, no explanation to what happen, nothing.
For a place that is supposed to have very high standards , I was very shocked about the customer service from all three individuals, especially the manager.
By the way, my name sounds NOTHING like nor close to Jessica lol.
Chocolate croissant - looks beautiful , loved the chocolate being used. However, very underwhelming.
The heirloom tomato tart - was dying to try this, again - very underwhelming, had almost no flavor. Tomato’s needed some salt. Tart was not crisp, I did not enjoy that.
The lemon meringue croissant was the best thing we had there and I don’t even like meringue. My only complaint on this item, again, wasn’t getting the crisp from the bottom layer croissant.
BEC - couldn’t tell you cause I never got it.
I want to say I just maybe went at a bad time with the wrong offerings. I would’ve defiantly came back to try other items - but after the terrible customer service i experienced, I will never return.
There are plenty of bakeries that are better in both, taste...

Located in the historic Refinery Domino, Birdee is an artisanal, upscale bakery and all-day café with a spacious, well-designed dining area. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to find a table even on the weekend.
Led by Michelin-starred pastry chef Renata Ameni, the pastries are meticulously crafted with a professional touch. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality and attention to detail make them well worth it.
*Lemon Meringue Croissant $10 * Quite possibly the best lemon meringue pastry I’ve ever had. The croissant was filled with a zesty lemon curd and topped with a toasted swirl of meringue. The meringue was incredibly light and fluffy.
*Pepperoni Pizza Croissant $8 ** This savory croissant was my second favorite. The lamination was flawless—neat, uniform, and beautiful. Each bite had an extra crispy crunch, and I appreciated how the pastry felt light and flaky without being greasy or overly buttery.
*Garlic Knot Pretzel $8 They heated up the garlic knot for us and served it with a marinara dip. It was soft, warm, and had just the right amount of garlic. While it didn’t quite taste like a pretzel, it was a solid garlic knot overall.
*Sun Gold Tomato Danish $12 We spotted a fresh batch of the daily special tomato danish, so we ran to the counter to grab one. However, it ended up being my least favorite pastry.
The center was loaded with feta and possibly goat cheese (though it wasn’t listed on the label). I’m not a fan of goat cheese, and the overly creamy filling put me off after the first bite. At this price point, I was expecting something a bit lighter and...

Food The croissants here are a standout—flaky, buttery, and executed to perfection. Whether you opt for the classic pain au chocolat or venture into inventive flavors like churro or pepperoni pizza, the lamination is spot-on, and the texture is delightfully crisp. On the other hand, the olive oil cake doesn't quite reach the same heights. While it's moist and subtly flavored, it lacks the memorable punch found in other offerings. It's pleasant but doesn't leave a lasting impression.
Service Service at Birdee is friendly but can be a bit overwhelmed during peak hours. It's advisable to arrive early to secure your desired treats.
Ambiance Located in the historic Domino Sugar Refinery, Birdee boasts a sleek, modern interior with ample natural light. The atmosphere is lively, often bustling with a mix of locals, food enthusiasts, and the occasional stroller brigade. Despite the buzz, the space maintains a welcoming vibe, making it a pleasant spot to enjoy your pastry and coffee.
Takeaway Birdee delivers on its promise of exceptional croissants in a stylish setting. While the olive oil cake may not steal the show, the overall experience is satisfying. Just be prepared for potential crowds and the possibility of popular items selling out quickly. If you're a pastry aficionado, Birdee is definitely...
