I hope the owner can read this… we were at Isla & Co for a bachelorette brunch, we were a party of 8 and reserved with a good amount of time in advance. The place is nice, they’ve done well with interior design but our whole experience was tarnished by the service. Our food order took 40 minutes to arrive to our table, which was shocking since the place was not even half full, and also everyone’s order in different times (the last person in our table had to wait an extra 15 minutes to get her plate). We were never approached by the staff to apologize or explain what was happening with our food but as soon as we started to ask the manager came and said the kitchen had a problem and they were doing the best they can. Usually when this happens you tell your clients ahead of time that the orders are taking long so be aware, or offer your clients a complimentary beverage or a dessert or something to munch on while you wait. Since we kept on asking, the manager just said she will take the coffees out of our bill. More than the money it was the attitude from the staff which was really disappointing, clearly there is no sense of ownership or going the extra mile to avoid a negative experience with customers and hope they come back another day. I hope they learn from this, the only reason I’m not giving 1 star is because the food was not bad...
Read moreSo I came here yesterday with my boyfriend. The ambiance is nice and decorated well. We decided to sit by the bar. It was nostalgic being here because we used to come around when the previous owner was here. Anywho my boyfriend ordered the burger and I ordered the fish and sticks. He stated his burger was okay flavor wise but it sliding all over the place. Me on the other hand, the moment I left the restaurant something didn’t sit right. I have been sick all day throwing up and not able to move. I would never come back here to eat. After food leaving me literally sick to my stomach, I wouldn’t want to wish that on anyone. Don’t waste your time and money coming to this place. Also service is okay. The only person attentive to us was the bartender. Also for it being a new place for only a month I would say that I should know the name of the owner. Any new place you see open, owners pride themselves on customer service and making sure everyone in the location it’s welcomed and greeted. At the moment while eating and drinking it’s all nice but the aftermath isn’t. Not impressed. Don’t spend your time and money...
Read moreI’ve been a guest at two Isla establishments to date and both visits have been on the list of top 5 dining experiences in NYC.
The service is so warm, friendly, and real. The staff is open and conversation as soon as you step your foot in the door and that means a lot in this city.
I enjoyed a few things on the menu but must share how delicious the fish and chips, whipped feta, and King's Cup Cocktail is!
The whipped feta is not just beautiful but it is filling, crunchy, and healthy. It is something I’d recommend all diners try. The combo of fresh vegetables, toast, and light cheese base is so indulgent without feeling weighed down.
The fish and chips... Y-U-M. I respect a place that lets seafood shine. The fish was tender, very clean, and lightly battered so its flavor and structure were intact. Of course, the fries were crisp and simple too. Delicious dish!
Lastly, try my fave cocktail “King’s Cup”. It is a blend of refreshing lime, ginger beer (my favorite), and tequila. I am not a drinker but would order this again. Overall: amazing and can’t wait to return...
