Blue Haven SOUTH — Restaurant in New York

Kate at blue haven needs to go!!! I came here with my family last night and they were visiting from out of town. We were greeted by Kate and she was very nice AT FIRST. When it came time to pay she brought over the mobile device to make a payment. My cousin paid first and when I went to insert my card I realized I was being undercharged. Now most people would just pay and move on but I wanted to make sure that everything was correct on Kate’s end to ensure she charged us for everything. This is when she started catching an attitude and getting sassy with us. She then tried to fix it and cancelled which was fine but didn’t even say sorry for leaving my cousin with pending charges on her account for over $100. She then slammed her mobile device on the table and walked away to try to figure out why the balance was off. Although her attitude was unacceptable we just shrugged it off, UNTIL she came back to the table and we paid again. I tipped 20% on the machine and my cousin hit NO TIP because she was leaving a 30% tip in cash since typically that’s what servers prefer. As we were getting ready to leave Kate came back up to us and was like “was everything ok because I see you only left a 7% tip”. WHO WHAT WHY AND WHERE THEY DO THAT. I have never been so embarrassed in NYC. I asked to speak to the manager and all she said was “i’ll talk to her”. These people need serious training in customer service because my bar is low for service at a sports bar but they found a way to deliver way worse than we could expected. This is truly the most special bar in all of manhattan. NYC has lacked truly GREAT sports bars and in particular places to watch football for sometime. This was rectified in part to BH's more northern sister restaurants Blue Haven and Blue Haven East, but still left a massive gap south of Manhattan. Look no further! Bang! They deliver. This place is massive, which is fantastic because Football Sunday and really any sporting event should be MASSIVE. The food is absolutely phenomenal, especially the buffalo chicken quesadilla which I have tackled Solo many times although you can probably split it. While the bud light tastes the same as every other bar in Manhattan, what truly separates this place apart is the people. They have a true community, headed by their fearless leaders Scott and Abby. Scott is the greatest. Abby is a truly unique and special human, an absolute superhero and apart from running the south operation also serves as chief vibe curator and service afficianado, and is probably the biggest reason that this place is so incredibly special and authentic. This place has unreal service that you have never experienced anywhere else. Dont let the dressing up fool you, for this is no bar but a home. Seriously dont pass up on the buffalo chicken quesadilla youll thank me later. Also be sure to find my boy Scotty behind the bar slinging cocktails!!

food was good until after we finished. we ordered the bottomless brunch and as soon as we cashed out a security guard came up to us to tell us we needed to leave because my friend has been “asleep at the table” which had never happened. my friend had laid her head on the table while laughing since i was going through her texts and she was embarrassed. either way it was 3pm in the afternoon and she was obviously not asleep which was ridiculous. a server (not ours) came by to say she was the one who witnessed my friend with her head down and had called the security guard over. very coincidental this happened after we had paid our tab. she continued saying we were over served and needed to leave which again, we had only ordered at this bar and had nothing prior and were drinking water at this point and weren’t causing a scene besides apparently my friend laying her head down (while laughing i might add) seeming to be asleep. overall left a horrible taste in our mouth as we were all cashed out and just about to leave anyway before being “forced” out. would not go here again solely...
