Service here is horrible. Flat out.
BEWARE IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES! They won't accommodate!
I ordered a $130 order for delivery and very clearly marked on all the items that everything needed to be 100% gluten free, as I have a very severe gluten allergy (Celiac Disease). I nicely asked in the order if the dips (hummus, babaganoush, etc). could come with sliced vegetables instead of pita bread.
After placing the order I received a call from the restaurant saying that "we can't give you vegetables with the dips, regardless of whether we give you pita." When I asked why I was told that it was "company policy". I explained that I wasn't asking for the swap out of preference but dietary necessity and if they could please just swap the two. I was nastily told that they could not and that if I wanted to get vegetables I would have to pay an additional cost. I asked to speak with the manager I was told that I was speaking with the manager and that the "owner wouldn't care". When I asked why they couldn't accommodate she simply said it was because they "didn't want to incur the extra cost" (but it was okay for them to not give me the pita, therefore saving them the pita to use for another customer, and therefore saving them a cost).
In 20 years of have Celiac's Disease and being gluten free, I have never had a restaurant tell me that they couldn't swap one thing out for another for no reason other than cost. What a disgrace, especially with the number of people with food allergies today.
I continued to ask her to accommodate my request, even telling her that I live in the neighborhood and have been a customer before but she would lose me as a customer forever going forward and she didn't care. She told me "fine you don’t have to come here, you can cancel your order if you want, I don’t care." I told her that if I cancelled my order tonight, I would never come back and would write a review online of my experience and she told me "fine go ahead". I was shocked. For a restaurant to not even care about negative online reviews and losing a repeat customers was astonishing to me and showed an utter arrogance on the part of this manager. I will never go back to this restaurant again and would not recommend anyone with an allergy to ever step...
Read morewe were in the zone for pizza though preferred to stay close to home as the weather forecast was not too good..gale like winds and very wet weather. Bodrum was nearby and it was definitely a plus. We have actually only dined here once when a friend was visiting. We tried initially to go to another restaurant but as we didn't make a reservation, just couldn't get a table. We walked around the block and discovered Bodrum. Food, as we remember, was good then. Bodrum is a Mediterranean restaurant that also serves wood fired pizzas. Ordered 3 pizzas to go from their menu. Was a bit difficult to choose as ever selection described was mouth watering. Ordered the Margherita ( with tomato sauce, mozzarella, for di latte and basil), the Mediterranean (with tomato sauce, roasted red peppers, feta, red onions and arugula..aptly named as a tribute to the restaurant) and the Pear and Walnut ( bosc pear, caramelized walnuts, mozzarella for di latte, gorgonzola cheese with fresh arugula and aged balsamic) So, how were the pizzas? Amazing! My wife especially liked the Pear and Walnut. As for me, the Mediterranean was my choice though all of them were just as good. Pizzas were perfect for a Saturday afternoon lunch at home. Highly recommend Bodrum if your journey takes you to the Upper West Side. Outdoor seating is available as well as indoor and food will definitely exceed your...
Read moreThe food here is excellent! Unfortunately, one of the managers (a lady, not sure of her name) was needlessly unpleasant with me when I visited recently. I placed a large pickup order on a Monday afternoon around 1:30 PM. When I arrived, the inside of the restaurant was nearly empty and the large outside dining area was as well. I was in a rush to be somewhere right after and, having ordered a pizza, I was not able to carry both the pizza box and the food bag with me on my trip. I decided to quickly eat the pizza in the outside dining area, and specifically chose a table that hadn't been cleaned in order to avoid making the servers clean up after me. Right before finishing the pizza, the manager came out and told me I wasn't allowed to eat my food there because I had ordered pick up instead of dining in. She didn't even offer to let me buy a drink before trying to kick me out. I'd understand her actions if the restaurant were at all busy, or if I had sat at a clean table, but to make a paying customer feel unwelcome when they aren't affecting anything negatively simply because it's "the policy" is just plain silly and overbearing. I conveyed my displeasure to the manager for this but she wouldn't acknowledge any of it. Shame on her for seeking conflict over a complete non-event. I know a nice restaurant like this one can...
