I went here to order lunch on a Wednesday afternoon at 1pm. The entire place was empty. I took a look at their lunch specials and decided to order 2 appetizers as opposed to a lunch entree. The waiter looked at me, looked at my order, and then refused to seat me.

"Sorry, we don't do lunch for little things like this. You must order an entree"

I was stunned. My 2 appetizers equaled the same amount as an entree, yet I was being asked TO LEAVE the restaurant while I was the only customer there.

I asked for my food to go, just as I will never go to Indian Tanpura again - with their classist lunch rules and regulations. Also, I had to put all of my ingredients together when I got back to work - they didn't even put the meal together for me. Please go to a nicer and cleaner Indian restaurant - maybe a...

Whenever I am in my old neighborhood this is my go to spot for really good Indian food. I have been coming here for a couple of years and each time it is not a ever a let down. Great food and great service. I read a comment about one of the waiters being flirtatious in front of her husband 😂 a d how she said that he thinks "white" woman in the states are easy, what does race have anything to with your bembaric comment? Please don't bring that kind ugly behavior to this establishment. I think that you wished he was flirting with you 🤣 It's disgusting that someone would right such a view and not bring this matter to the manger 😤 it wasn't serious and she knows it. Stop making false accusations because you are playing with someone's JOB!! AND...

An unassuming little hole in the wall restaurant with an incredible variety of options. Nine of us came in on a Thursday evening for a graduation dinner, so we got to order a variety of options to share amongst. Everything came with white rice. The dishes that stood out were the chicken vindaloo, shrimp patia, crab meat curry, and the goat vindaloo. It was my first time trying a crab meat curry, and I was pleasantly surprised. The service was lovely and the waiters were very attentive and kept water constantly refilled. The mango lassi's were also quite nice, and helped cool the tongue when the spices built up.

Whether to dine in for an intimate dinner or take out, this is definitely the place to come for some authentic North...

This fantastic restaurant was recommended to us by a local in a nearby coffee shop. We were the only ones in the restaurant but we had a great time. The papadam that was served before the meal came with three chutneys, the onion was my favorite. For entrees we got the chicken tikka masala and the lamb korai which is a specialty of theirs. Both dishes were extremely flavorful and left us wanting more. The garlic naan that we ordered was the best we have ever had, baked perfectly and seasoned well. Overall we had one of our best meals in New York here and would recommend it to anyone looking for great Indian in the area.

I live 1 block away & get to enjoy Indian Tanpura's food whenever I want! Pictured are the vegetable samosas (2 per order), Saag Paneer, garlic naan & aloo paratha, and Chicken Kashmir. Every time we order we get the samosa: absolutely excellent with the sauces & garlic. Saag Paneer is a standout too, that's part of most of our orders. We've tried almost all of the curried dishes, and others like Rogan Josh, lamb moglai and have enjoyed them all. Proceed with caution on the vindaloo, one of the spiciest I've had! The staff is warm & welcoming, vibe inside is calm & classic. Highly recommend!

August 2022. We came for lunch on a Saturday around 1:30 pm and were the only patrons. The restaurant is not huge but I liked the music and ambience. I had the lamb korai which was great and seasoned with the perfect amount of spiciness. The naan and chaputi were also very nice. The prices were surprisingly reasonable for a restaurant in NYC!!
