In 2022, I hosted my fourth event in the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre at Symphony Space. It is a warm, intimate theatre space, with about 162 seats. The control room is not cramped, like many others I've experienced. The equipment seems to be top- tier and up-to-date. There are three, nice and comfortably sized dressing rooms backstage. There are also restrooms and a shower room.
The current staff is the best, thus far. Everyone with whom I interacted was helpful and knowledgeable. All of my questions were answered promptly and thoroughly, including about the tech. The reservations staff was so patient and invaluable. With the paperwork, rules and requirements, it can get a little confusing or hard to keep up, but Rachel, Monica and Elisabeth kept me and everything on track.
The day of my event, John was the theatre rep who ensured that we had everything we had requested and helped us to resolve the unexpected issues that arose. (No fault of the theatre.) John was so personable and professional. He truly made this year my best experience ever at Symphony Space! John went above and beyond for me and my crew, making sure that my attendees had a wonderful and memorable time...wearing a smile all the while.
Feedback from my attendees has been very encouraging. I am so grateful to the Symphony...
Read moreI wish I could leave negative stars. We had tickets to see Helen Jane Long tonight but were turned away at the door because my wife and I aren't covid boosted. We booked tickets for the show two months ago and at the time only being vaccinated and wearing a mask was required. On March 1st they updated their policy to require the booster however they didn't have the decency to notify anyone of the change, so we were turned away even though we had our vaccine cards and masks. Masks and vaccines are no longer mandated by NYC so I don't understand why they would require a booster even though it was never required by the local health department. We are sorely disappointed to miss the show and will be filing a complaint about the failure to notify us of the policy change with the better business bureau. We are disgusted with how this was handled and will...
Read moreOh My Gosh!!!! Sweet smaller theater! I felt like I was back in Austin!! The show last night (Meg Wolitzer's Selected Shorts: Classics with a Twist) was phenomenal from start to finish! Meg, Sara Bareilles, Sarah Ruhl, Maya Hawke, Jim Parsons, Cindy Cheung, and Mike Doyle all took part. Absolutely blew my socks off! I flew up from Texas just for this show, and I am SO glad I did!! All the workers bees at the theater were very nice. Ms. Landau (director of the facility, I believe) was really sweet! I might just have to plan another trip to NYC just for another show at Symphony Space! The only thing disappointing was that, unlike Austin (Zach Scott Theater), the actors don't come out to the lobby afterwards to greet and meet attendees.... It was still worth it!!!...
