I saw Master and Margarita here. Great classic and interesting plot for those that read the book or watched the movie but the show at Pushkin palace did not meet my expectations at all.
I get that this is an off-Broadway, but even so, they can do better. The costumes were a 0.1/5 *. As far as talent, the lady who plays Margarita as well (as the demon in the beginning) and Azazello I would say were the two that stuck out most to me in terms of making the show at least somewhat worthwhile.
Otherwise, this show was severely lacking in my taste and in entertainment and the lady next to me fell asleep. Some people even left during the 15 minute intermission. At the beginning, the lady even says if you don't like the show invite your enemies. Guess there's some truth to that.
There were only ~ 50 people at the beginning and towards the end maybe 35? ....and some lady with a list walks around asking your name to check it off. She might want to count how many leave too.
If you come early, you can choose any seat (except 1st row which is for "VIP") which is nice actually. Also, place was hot during the show. Old hall too. Dress casual and maybe bring a sweater along (in case anything changes) ... facility doesn't have sufficient funds for proper ventilation...
Read moreI absolutely love the cozy Pushkin Theater on 86th Street and Amsterdam Avenue. With only about 50 seats, it creates such an intimate atmosphere—you truly feel like you’re part of the performance.
I purchased a ticket, drawn by the captivating headline, only to discover upon arrival that the performance was actually in Serbian :) I do not speak Serbian.
We decided to give it a try despite not understanding the language…
