The wait was way too long for only a couple of people in line ahead of me - the cashier guy was very slow and didn't seem to care. I was so excited to try this place as it smelled amazing, so when it was my turn, I asked the cashier for recommendations. He answered indifferently, "we're sold out of everything", even though that was clearly not the case and they had a few different pastries at the window. Turned out they did have a rugelach and chocolate babka that I ended up getting, but I would not have known about it, had I not randomly asked after seeing it on the list above. It felt like I had to interrogate the cashier instead of him trying to recommend anything from what they had left. When asked about one other pastry at the window, he said "oh, that's just bread". Well yes, I figured you are a bakery. The interaction left a bad impression on me - I won't give another chance to this place. After all this, chocolate Babka ended up being $15 to my surprise. Read moreHave been wanting to try babka in NYC for quiet a bit of time now. Finally it was my lucky day, and I was looking for best babka in google maps and chrome, the first suggestion which popped up was Breads Bakery. That suggestion is so perfect that it is really one of the best babka I have ever tried. At first we wanted to get a slice of chocolate babka, however it was late in the day and there were no more single slices available, hence bought the whole loaf and I did not regret that decision. We shared this babka with our cousins and they as well loved it so much. Every bite of it was perfect blend of richness and texture, moist & , just melts in your mouth. To explain it in one word it was phenomenal, satisfying and addictive, see One word is not enough. Again one of the best babka i have ever had. If in NYC make sure you try this place out for...
Read moreIf I could give the service a zero star I would. Last week a couple of friends and I stopped by this Breads to pick up a chocolate babka. When we ordered the girl ran up for 2 loaves when we ordered one. She was polite enough to correct the error, and we paid. We waited on the side for about 10 minutes and went back to the window to inquire how much longer it would take for our order, that’s when one of the workers grabbed a loaf from the cart with and tossed it at us with an attitude. We were stunned that such action was taken when we were just patiently waiting for our order. I wouldn’t recommend going to the breads kiosk in Bryant park, if you want better service and warm chocolate babka go to the...
