Please make sure that if you go to this place of establishment to dine in, you ask for paper napkins instead of the brown linen napkins they give you. I noticed that the linen napkin given to me was not clean, had been re-used. I gently brought it up in a suttle manner to Audrey since there were other customers dining in as well. Audrey was defensive and tried to cover it up stating that the linen is washed sometimes with bleach and it was probably white spots of bleach on the brown linen napkin. It is not their fault since they send out their linen napkins to a 3rd party for cleaning. Really? Bleach would run throughout the entire brown linen cloth and change the color of the cloth from brown to pink. These were disgusting marks of someone who had previously used the cloth napkin. We all know what bleach stains look like. I don't think the Owner of this establishment would pay a 3rd party cleaning facility to wash the brown linen cloths and return them to him with "bleach stains". Please do yourself a favor and think twice about dining there. If I could give a Zero star for Cleanliness and Customer Service skills, I would. At a time that we are all recovering from the pandemic, my advice to the Owner of this establishment who also owns Kennedys Restaurant in Breezy Point as informed by Audrey, if you want to keep your customers safe and happy, give out paper napkins instead or terminate your 3rd party cleaning facility and have Audrey inspect the linens before giving them to good...
Read moreWent for Valentine's Day couples dinner, first time for me. I've been told that this restaurant has been in business for a very long time. We got the feeling that they might be trying to brand themselves as an upscale, romantic restaurant. It was our second choice because our first place did not have any tables available.
On the positive side: The owner was well-dressed and very genuinely welcoming. The food tasted very good and was well-prepared (Chateaubriand, string beans and mashed potatoes).
On the less positive side: The food was barely warm. The way the food was served was awkward. The sides were on a separate plate, and the waiter served the meat slices from a huge platter to our dinner plates. The presentation was very sad, with the big empty dinner plate and just two lonely slices of meat. Then he left the huge serving platter in the center of our table with just one small slice of meat on it. Something was just not working right with the presentation and on the very small table. The room was huge and very spread out. I understand that the room is a venue for big events, and that is how it felt. I would have preferred a cozy setting, maybe with a fireplace nearby. The chairs were lightweight and uncomfortable. The waitstaff was not super intuitive about timing, and they could have dressed up a bit.
My date said that he wants to bring me back there for lunch in a different room that is smaller and has...
Read moreJust had Thanksgiving dinner - very good ( especially the turkey - one of the BEST I've had ) sorry I forgot to take a picture of the turkey plate that included a very nice portion of perfectly sliced, ( thin, but not too thin & NOT thick ) very tasty & moist, light & dark meat, over stuffing ( served with yams, mashed potatoes, string beans & julienne carrots ) just the right amount of gravy & a fresh cranberry sauce. The traditional dinner included a VERY fresh winter vegetable soup with bite size chunks of squash & I think pumpkin in a very nice light broth. Also started with crab cakes & egg roll appetizer - both very good. Finished with pumpkin pie for dessert - the crust was PERFECT, although I didn't care much for the filling - the texture & consistency were good, but not very sweet, nor with the usual light pumpkin pie spice flavors ( my personal preference has always been a pumpkin filling / pudding that my mother used to make - a little on the sweet side ) Overall, very nice & only the 2 nd time I'd been here ( last time was for a baby shower, about 10 to 15 years ago ) PS : I know you don't decide to go to a restaurant for the restroom, but as a lady, it's just an added bonus that the ladies' room is...
