I go regularly to Butler in Dumbo with my young grandchildren. They look forward and enjoy the food and the atmosphere. The staff recognize us as regular customers and are kind and welcoming. However this past weekend we had a horrible experience with the person that took our order. Right after I paid and walked away I realized I forgot to order a hot chocolate for my 5 year old jgranddaughter. I came back to the person that took our order to ask for a the hot chocolate. She told me to go back to the end of the line. I said never mind and walked away. The Barista realized the problem. Unbeknown to me He prepared a hot chocolate and called me over to pick it up. He entered the amount. I introduced my credit card to pay. Then as I began to enter a tip, the same person that asked me to go back to the end of the line, abruptly took over the cashier machine. I indicated that was trying to enter a tip. In a very agressive and a threatening tone She told me ā get out of my faceā. She repeated more than once. I was quite surprised. My 5 year old granddaughter became concerned. The incident was witnessed by a person who indicated she is a mgr. The only justification for the rude and agressive behavior is that her colleague was willing to serve us the hot chocolate w/o having to go back to the end...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI stumbled upon this picturesque coffee spot and it turned out to be the perfect retreat for a relaxing day.
First and foremost, the view was absolutely stunning! Situated in a prime location, this cafƩ offers a mesmerizing backdrop of the bustling cityscape, making it an ideal spot to unwind while sipping on your favorite drink.
Speaking of drinks, the coffee here is top-notch. Whether you prefer a classic espresso or a frothy latte, they have it all, accompanied by a tempting array of freshly baked goods that are sure to satisfy any craving.
One thing I appreciated was the ample seating options available. Whether you prefer to sit indoors and soak in the cozy ambiance or take advantage of the outdoor seating to bask in the beauty of the surroundings, there's a spot for everyone.
Overall, my experience at this cafƩ was nothing short of delightful. If you're in New York and looking for a charming coffee spot with spectacular views, look no further. This place has everything you need for an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been to Butler a few times now, and what I witnessed most recently was truly unacceptable. One of the male staff members (tall, dark hair) loudly yelled at an older woman working in the kitchen/dish area, and he did it right in front of customers. As someone who understands Spanish, I was shocked and uncomfortable with the way he spoke to her ā it was aggressive and completely disrespectful.
This isnāt the first time Iāve seen the staff being treated poorly here, and it leaves a really bad impression about how Butler values (or doesnāt value) its employees, especially women and older workers. Watching someone belittle staff in front of paying customers says everything about the culture and management.
On top of that, the food wasnāt worth overlooking the experience ā the French toast was burnt and service felt scattered. With so many great cafes in NYC, thereās no reason to support a place that treats its...
