Finally!! Cali Tajadas is the authentic Colombian restaurant I have been looking for in Brooklyn that’s close to home. I moved to Sunset Park 3 months ago from Queens so I’m used to having several Colombian options at my doorstep. Also my mom is Caleña and an amazing cook so my expectations for authentic Colombian food are high. I ordered the bandeja valluna to test it out. It was delicious! Happy to report the lentils have that familiar, home-made taste to it. The rice was nice and fluffy with the distinctive Colombian taste we know and love. Now I’ve transitioned to a whole food plant-based vegan diet, so I requested they do not add the steak and chorizo that comes with the dish. I did have the fried egg (since I made an exception), maduro, avocado and salad. I also got lucky and the pandebono had just come out the oven when I arrived so I ordered one with a small coffee as an appetizer. So fresh and so good! The owner - Emilio - is very welcoming and accommodating. The rest of his staff is very friendly and welcoming as well. The place is small but well furnished and spaced out. It’s got it’s Colombian decor thoughtfully placed. You can tell there is love and pride put into this establishment. Happy to have a little part of Cali, Colombia just a 15 minute walk...

"New review after coming here for a few months" 1.If it's empty good time to come in cook can't seem to handle when it's busy got a lot of over fried over cooked food.(Just threw away when I got home) Speaking Spanish is plus if not gotta find menu and point not a big deal. They kinda close when they want they do close early than advertise cuz we'll that's just how they are. 4.Consistently good service food quality is now questionable to me saw guy cough in hands than went straight back to handling food(not a soft cough) to be fair not usaual guy I see making food. I'm not coming here anymore I enjoyed the food the first few times than just got worse and worse I'll drive to queens now if I have craving for this...
Read moreHad an beef empanada, a pan de bono and a mango juice made with milk. The empanada had good flavor but it tasted like it had been sitting there since the morning, it probably was, I went in the afternoon. The pan de bono was cold, I'm not sure they serve them like that the whole day but it would be better if it was warm or if they offered to heat it up a little. They have maybe the best spicy sauce I have had from a Colombian restaurant. It's a cilantro base but it's got the perfect amount of spice to it. The mango juice was good, it was made from frozen fruit, which I'm fine with, it's better than a bottled or canned beverage. Prices are good and they are very friendly. They menu has more than empanadas and...
