It was -14 degrees in NYC and we decided to get something to eat at a new burger joint (why - we're crazy).
Their food is like their service.....AMAZING!
When we first walked in there were two snazzy dressed gentleman singing old show tunes. They occasionally have special events like Drag Bingo and psychic night, which we definitely want to attend (check their Instagram for upcoming events).
The place has a comfy and friendly atmosphere. There was an exposed brick wall with cast iron pots hanging from the wall. We sat by one of the windows with cushy seats.
The menus are on tablets. When you click on an item it provides you with a photo and detailed ingredients. We met the owner/chef who we just found out was on the show Chopped. He was super friendly just like his staff. You can tell he is very well liked by the people in the neighborhood.
The food was delicious. Words can't describe how tasty our meals were.... We found negative reviews on yelp, but we disagree, and many noted something else, aside from the food, as being part of the influence - the negative reviews (we found) highlighted uncontrollable detractors as variables to their rating. We had the "Whiskey Burger" & "Chef's Burger" and each were superb. The prices were moderate; they align with market prices. Both burgers were well-seasoned, and each of the dressings - the whiskey cheese and pickles, and the bacon jam - complimented them like syrup on chicken & waffles.
Overall, our experience was great. We can't recommend Brooklyn Foundry any more........

Read moreWent here for brunch to treat a friend for his birthday. I had high expectations based on the reviews here and the beautiful photos, but left underwhelmed. The cauliflower dish was great, my friend enjoyed the French Toast, but the beet burger was disappointing. It was recommended by the waiter since I'm vegan; it was made in-house so I was excited to try. The patty was lacking texture and the "creamy" dressing was not adding anything to the whole dish. So only 3 stars for the food. But what was more disappointing is the service. The server asked if everything was ok since I only ate a third of my burger. And when I told him what I thought, he barely acknowledged it. No effort to remedy it all. The waiter (different from the server) then asked if I wanted to wrap it up to go, to which I declined and explained the reason why (that it's not great). Again, no acknowledgement that I'd expect when dealing with a disappointed customer. He also forgot to get back to me regarding a question about the cauliflower dish that I actually enjoyed and was planning to order another to go. He then proceeded to hand over the check without making eye contact nor saying thank you. When I paid and he returned with the change, he again did not make any eye contact when he put down the change, nor anyone saying thank you when we walked out. This place is tiny, there were only 3 parties seated, and you could see the door when someone leave. So I took 1 star off for lack of service. Despite the lackluster food and even more lackluster service, I still left a 22% tip because it might've been an off day (and I've been there on the...
Read moreI really wanted to love this place, I really did! Why??? Because it's just so freaking cool inside! Decor is warm and inviting. The specialty drinks and the bartender REALLY are SPECIAL! The food however.... eh. We started off with the mussels, which were actually not that bad. They just needed a little bit more salt and a bit more spice added to their velvety coconut curry sauce. We also had the mac and cheese which wasn't very good. Sauce is TOO thick and the pasta is WAY too heavy! BF have had the braised pork with potatoes and broccoli rabe, which had the taste of a 1970s turkey TV dinner with gravy - the best way I can describe it. I had the pork meatballs, which were REALLY tuff and definitely lacked that melt in your mouth texture that you want your meatballs to have. On the other hand, the tomato sauce on top of them, was quite good. Lastly, we had the banana split with a warm surprise in the middle. The surprise was their French toast, which we were told is served during their brunch hours. BF claims it to be the best dessert ever, I beg to differ. We will absolutely give this place another try because of their specialty drinks, service, and fabulous decor! Perhaps we'll have better luck with the...
