CAVA — Restaurant in New York

This location is outstanding!!! I’ll be totally honest with my experience… I visited the Cava in Downtown Brooklyn and it was actually my 2nd visit and I was still slightly puzzled with the choices because I’m 100% unfamiliar with Cava. The lady was completely mean and unprofessional. I simply asked a few questions about the selection and she started rolling her eyes and it clearly showed she didn’t want to serve me. When I reached to the end to put on sauce she literally walked away and I had to wait 3 mins exactly for the cashier. So I walked out. I googled this new location and decided to give it a try since the food on my 1st ever visit was awesome. The server this time was a Spanish person (excuse me if I’m wrong as I really don’t care about race and culture) but he broke down the menu and even offered a trial of the toppings and sauces. The food at this location was OUTSTANDINGLY FABULOUS in Capital letters!!!! It was light skin male that needs to be the supervisor… I tried to ask the other staff where did he go so I can leave a tip but they thought I was asking for a job. Lol They immediately judged me and thought I’m begging for something. Every time I approached the staff they told me to go online to apply. lol I tried to explain but they would literally cut me off from the conversation and give me a complete description of how to apply lol. I found it very amusing that because I’m black and trying to give a tip they judge me and think I’m begging for something. I went back into the line and soon as it was my turn to be served I explained to them that all I was trying to do is give the person that served me a tip. Again I’m reminding everyone I’m not racist or vindictive towards anyone but it clearly shows that us as black people put our own in a low standard even when we are suppose to be professional to everyone. Because I’m black and asking a question I was judged by everyone and I didn’t dress any bad way just a simple T Shirt and a short Jean pants with Nike colored sneakers. And ofcourse my hoodie on the side incase it gets cold which they didn’t even see because I had it zipped up in a leather bookbag my daughter uses. But what I’m trying to say is we black people need to stop looking at our own self as something bad and try to help each other regardless of the race, sex or religion. We are all born by mother and father and we didn’t have a choice. We grow up in what ever choices parents made and teach by the same parents that once came together and create us. Tonight i experience first class service at this cava location, i didnt think they were still open around 9:30pm tonight, i was properly served by jamar, he was very patience, thoughtful and smart. i also witness an incident with the manager and customer, the customer was extremely rude, and inappropriate with the manager while he was simply throwing out trash. The manager actually asked us if we could pass so he could throw thrash, its was about 4 adults present, the manager was very respectful and very articulated, he spoke to us like repeated customer, he dislike when customer who are extremely rude attempt to ruin great customer service. This anger customer, an adult grown male causing unnecessary trouble to a person who wasnt rude. This guy threaten the manager verbally and gave her the middle finger, what adult person does that to an individual in food service. i Wish more people were more respectful, that manager was in the right for taking the higher road. That guy shouldnt be allowed back in that store, our neighborhood businesses and the employess in them whether food service or beverage business should be treated right, i actually come to this location often and everytime i see this manager, he and the team are always great spirit, working hard, making delicious food with incredible service...!
