The best kept secret is this amazing mini-concert theater - The Theater at Madison Square Garden!
I was fortunate enough, once again, to get the premium VIP 1 experience at this venue (similar to what I achieved last year) to once again experience my favorite band from The Great Nation of Japan, BABYMETAL!
The Theater at Madison Square Garden did not let me down and I had an amazing concert experience here!
Admittedly, at the very start, there was a slight discrepancy with the line situation for us VIP's regarding the location and timing of the lineups. However, this was quickly a non-issue as the staff was, in fact, very organized and informative with where we should lineup and directing into the venue and where we needed to go afterwards.
The venue itself is beautiful. It has received a remodeling some time ago and it definitely features modern amenities for visitors. Since this was one of the hottest days on record (99 degrees F) the temperature within was a definitely a climate-controlled cool 60 F. So, it was very comfortable inside, it was very clean and it was also very safe.
Staff inside were excellent. They did say "please and thank you" and the shops inside were very well run, everything was clean and well maintained. There are food and drink options and the prices were perfectly fine, considering this is NYC -its appropriate. The bathrooms were also clean and well maintained. Everything inside was well staffed and everyone was helpful and courteous.
The theater itself is amazing. It features the iconic lighting fixtures on the ceiling. Seating looked nice. However, I can't go into much detail on seating because I was all the way up front standing at the steel barrier right in front of the stage.
Lets talk about security. Security was good. They did their jobs. They handed out bottle water to us when we requested them. They were very courteous. They handled the crowd surfers efficiently and safely. Thankfully, there were no issues that came about during the night that I was aware of. Of course, I was probably having too much a good time to notice if any issues did happen to arise. That is a testament to the amazing concert experience and a night that I will never forget!
Afterwards, the crowd and fellow fanatics I spoke to all absolutely loved the show. So there were no issues.
The Theater at Madison Square Garden delivered a great concert experience!
MSG is one of the best arenas on the planet, if not the Worlds Greatest Arena. We all know that.
I would hope that one day sooner rather than later to experience BABYMETAL in the Main Arena upstairs.
I feel that all parties involved should absolutely make that happen!
UPDATE (7/11/25) It turns out a music video was filmed here during this show. BABYMETAL - Kon! Kon! feat. Bloodywood (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) was shot here at the Theater at MSG. In fact, I was able to see myself in this video many...
Read moreThe staff here really screwed up IMO. We bought tickets a few months in advance via Ticketmaster. We live in Maine so planned an entire trip around this show. My 4.5 year old son loves the Hard Knock Life song and we were listening to it a few times a week when driving to preschool. We basically were doing the entire trip to hear that one song performed live by their cast. It was the number one reason for going, with the rest of the musical being secondary. It was also a surprise so my son was super excited upon seeing it was for Annie! His first experiment and memory of a Broadway show would be this experience. When we walked into the theater the an usher brought us to the wrong section and pointed to our (incorrect) seats. We sat down. When the musical began the wonder and excitement in my son’s eyes was very very special. But moments later the manager of the ushers came over. He repeatedly questioned the legitimacy of our tickets. Another group was unable to get to their seats because we were in them, so it was unfortunate for them as well. The manager looked at my Ticketmaster tickets in my Apple wallet several times. Then asked us to move. All the while ruining the Hard Knock Life Song for my son. My son had no idea what was going on, and was devastated that he couldn’t focus on his favorite song. The manager FINALLY realized what was wrong. Our tickets were legit but we had been seated one section over. The other group was probably having their experience ruined as well. I would say that A. Their ushers need to be better trained on where to seat people. B. Their manager should have identified that we were in the wrong section sooner, after looking at our tickets one time he looked maybe 5 times and just assumed they were fake. I even showed him my purchase confirmation email. Shouldn’t he know what to check for and/or know the sections of his own theater better? C. If there had been no ushers at all I can assure you that we would have found our correct seats in the correct section on our own. We trusted the usher to be correct with his guidance. We would have been better off without an usher Anyway, we moved to our correct seats. The rest of the musical was good, but we missed out on enjoying the high point of my son’s favorite song. And his first Broadway experience had a traumatic start to it. So for the rest of his life, that will be his first memory of a...
Read moreBest managed concert venue I have ever been to.
The employees knew what they were doing, it was fast to enter, and we got out in a reasonable amount of time.
We were stuck outside in some loop of people who thought they were getting in, but they were just looping around, so we broke out of that, and employees led us to the way in. We were able to be inside the venue about two hours before the concert started. It was simple and easy. We just walked through a metal detector and gave our bags to be checked out. We were able to bring a clear backpack with no issues.
We easily found the floor we needed (escalators and stairs are what we used). I didn't see the elevators, but I'm sure they have them.
The people at the merchandise tables were SO amazing. They had the line moving so quickly and made sure everyone got a chance to buy something. It's pretty much a cashless venue. They have Google Pay and Apple Pay, as well as using a debit or credit card. We were in and out of the merch line in less than 30 minutes, which is a record for K-pop concerts!
The water was $6 for an Aquafina, and you could also tip. They had food and drinks all over the venue, so it was easy to find. They take the caps off the water bottles (probably to protect people), so if you want to keep it to drink during the concert, bring an empty bottle with a cap if possible. ( I am unsure if security takes them or not)
We sat in row 207, and we couldn't find our seats. We showed Marly (the seating attendant) our tickets, and she led us right to our seats! The seats are super comfortable. There's not a ton of leg room, so your knees are forced to be bent, but it's not bad.
Getting out of the venue took some time, but not nearly as bad as it could've been. The security was great at getting people out of the building. In the beginning, we were going down the escalators that were turned off, and it was very squished, but then we got off them and the security people told us to follow them, and they led us to stairs to get down faster.
Overall, the venue was perfectly run, clean, comfortable, and a great experience. I now see why MSG has a reputation for...
