Dining at Chinta was one of the most pleasant experiences I've ever had in NYC.
Ambience: Everything about the establishment from the low key yet elegant decor to the Polaroid filled menu showing what each dish looks like demonstrates the thought and care that really shines through the food.
Drinks: The restaurant is brand new and struggling with NYC bureaucracy to secure their liquor license. Fret not, while they're not able to offer BYOB either, they have a wonderful assortment of virgin mocktails and the food more than makes up for this.
FOOD: Appetizers: The veggie spring rolls were the freshest, most delicious spring rolls I've ever had in my life. Get. Them.
The curry puffs were awesome, highly recommend if you're a fan of curry.
The furious calamari are barely spicy lol but so delicious, especially with the lime juice squeezed all over. I def recommend.
The chive pancakes were surprising, I expected pancakes but they came in this cute stick shape and you can really see/enjoy the fresh chives without too much batter. Really yummy, also recommend.
The Tom Yum soup
Main Dishes: I ordered the crab, egg and fried rice dish. I usually find that seafood fried rice dishes can often be too salty, not the case here. I liked having the option to spice it up with the spicy maybe oyster or fishy/vinegar-y sauce that comes on the side and they gladly provided soy sauce.
My sis ordered the Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles) and requested the spice be mild with no jalapeño. I love spice, but this dish was too die for and you can always add more spice or request mild so you can add add your leisure. They are so kind and accommodating to requests/dietary restrictions/allergies here!
My friend ordered the Osso Bucco, she really enjoyed it. It has an interesting twist with the spices and cinnamon it's prepared with. Not my jam but go for it if you're that type of foodie.
The Esan Set, roasted chicken with sticky rice had gorgeous presentation and was very yummy
And finally the Pot of Gold was awesome and featured a Chinese sausage that the whole table enjoyed the taste of.

Read moreMy friends and I tried out this cute new Thai restaurant, we ordered the pomelo salad, Zaab Zaab wings, chicken pad kee mao, short rib, and beef basil friend rice. Everything was absolutely delicious! The service was so amazing and everyone was extremely friendly.
The pomelo salad was top notch, so refreshing. The pomelo was so fresh and citrusy, with a flavorful but not too overwhelming sauce, served with thinly cut crispy red onion and warm shrimps that were perfectly cooked, which all brought the salad together really well. The flavors really all just came together so well, you can tell the Chinta team have really put a lot of thought and energy into perfecting this recipe.
The Zaab Zaab wings were SO flavorful. It was something really unique, pretty spicy actually and an unexpected kick of lime that really complemented the spiciness of the wings.
They brought out some Thai iced tea for us to try as well, and it was just perfect, 10/10 would recommend. My personal favorite entree was the pad kee mao, one of my friends said his favorite part was the massaman sauce that the short rib was plated with. Overall, a perfect dinner for a breezy summer evening (we sat at one of the outdoor tables). Sadly the food looked so good we forgot to take pictures before devouring. I can add photos next time I go, because I will definitely...
Read moreOutdoor table where I was placed maybe 4 inches from my neighbor on a SERIOUS decline (I almost wore my drink 3 times, and my lost my fork).
Menu was in the form of a book, love the concept of the Polaroid photo menus but it also made it difficult to look at the same items as my date as we had to try and communicate where we wanted each other to look amongst 10 pages of menu (with no page numbers).
The food was interesting in that: The pomelo salad, wasn’t salad at all, and the pomelo wasn’t ripe and the shrimp was covered in a mousse and still contained the tails, in making it quite difficult and messy to eat. The prawns meal were extremely small, difficult to remove from shell, which just left me with tamarind sauce and a bowl of rice when splitting. The pad thai was almost too deconstructed that I had to spoon in each topping and cut my own green onion to make it feel fully incorporated. The soft shell crap was also on the soft side when it came to the dry so it didn’t stand out in taste when eaten either the pad Thai noodles.
