If you haven’t tried Classic Arepa in NYC, you’re seriously missing out. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth, the aroma of freshly made arepas, and the kind of energy that makes you feel right at home.
The arepas? Next-level. Perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside — each bite packed with flavor and authenticity. I had the Reina Pepiada and the Pabellón, and both were absolutely phenomenal. The shredded beef was tender and juicy, the avocado chicken salad was fresh and creamy, and the plantains? Sweet perfection.
Portions are generous, pricing is fair, and you can tell everything is made with love and pride in Venezuelan tradition.
To top it off, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, happy to explain the menu or recommend favorites. Whether you’re Venezuelan or just curious about Latin cuisine, Classic Arepa is a must-visit.
I’ll absolutely be back — and bringing friends. 🔥

Read moreI was walking around the Washington square park area, looking for something to eat. When I stumbled upon the sign on the wall and read the word “Arepa”. I was stunned! I decided to walk in and check out their menu, their menu looked too good to be true. I wasn’t sure if I would find authentic Venezuelan food in lower Manhattan— but I took my chances and ordered my favorite Venezuelan item— tequeños! Most of the places I’ve gone to have been a disappointment so the expectations were low.
I got the tequeños, the first thing that caught my eye was the dough. I broke the tequeño in half, the cheese pull was perfect, I dipped half of it in the garlic sauce and I took the first bite. As soon as I bit it, my mouth was a festival of flavors and all reminding me of my childhood, when I would go to the quinceañeras and eat all the tequeños!
Highly recommend this place, I will come back and try something different on the menu every...
