I visited Dawn’s Till Dusk on a recent visit to Dumbo for a business meeting. I lived in the neighborhood for a long time and moved out over 10yrs ago; I had heard the location, which used to be a One Girl Cookies, had recently been re-vamped to offer savory menu items and alcohol to service the neighborhood in a broader way since more coffee shops and restaurant options became available over the last decade. I have to say, One Girl held a special place in my heart given the impact it made on Dumbo’s revitalization and ‘arrival on the map’ and I was pretty skeptical of anything trying to replace the spot it held in my heart for my daily coffee and weekend indulgences. Well, disappointed I was NOT. They were up against a lot to win me over and win me over they did! What a great new vibe - I felt like I was experiencing apertivo service in Italy! The space had new decor, candles, window treatments and art work, which totally give it a modern and chic vibe. The food, which ranged from nibbles like olives and a beautiful cheese plate to ‘NY-centric’ sandwiches and salad, was absolutely ‘of the moment’ and definitely filled a void I didn’t even realize existed in Dumbo until now! I also enjoyed my wine, which was chosen from a list of carefully curated selections, and my guest had a few of the artisanal beers on offer, which he quite enjoyed as well. Again - I was a full-on skeptic of the ‘new’ One Girl, which is now Dawn’s Till Dusk, and I am happy to say it has won me over. Full stop. Thank you to the proprietors for being able to capture the heart of this weary woman- you’ve clearly got something special on your hands in this newly revamped location and your ability to evolve with the changes all around in Dumbo are unmatched. Well done to you - will be...
Read moreThe first time I came here was May of 2025. I made conversation with the employee who was taking my order. I was telling them that I was walking all over the city and made my way to Brooklyn and that I am visiting my boyfriend who lives on Long Island. I ordered a vanilla iced latte with a cookie to eat there. Both items were very good and the atmosphere was relaxing. I was about to take a break from all the walking and charge my phone.
The next time I visited this place was August 2025. It was another day of walking the city and crossing the Brooklyn Bridge to come here specifically. Once I walked in, I recognized that it was the same employee from last time who helped me. I told them that I came in May and I remembered who they were. Their response back was that they also remembered me and even told me that they remember that story I was telling them about how i am visiting my boyfriend and I did all this walking, ect. I got super excited because I loved that I was memorable to them! I also made conversation with another employee that was there and both were just super nice and welcoming. This time, I ordered an iced caramel macchiato with a chocolate zucchini bread. Again, both items were delicious and I was able to relax.
I highly recommend this place for both drinks/food for being good and the staff to be extremely friendly. It is definitely a perfect place to start or...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible place. I used to go here when it first opened. A time when they needed custom and it was friendly and warm. Walked in today, said hello to the two staff behind the counter and was totally ignored. No seats free, at least 50% of them were occupied by either someone taking a selfie or someone making a latte last 3 hours. Stood miles away from the restroom to wait and was then rudely asked by a member of staff, one who had ignored me 2 minutes earlier but had now discovered a new found interest in me, that he ‘wanted’ to keep the area around the restroom free. Not sure why though - as I was nowhere near it and no one was queuing for it. Thought maybe he needed it as a back up mirror for himself in case his iPhones front facing camera malfunctioned. It took me a second to understand what he was saying as I was busy trying to decipher what year his clothes had been in fashion. Perhaps 2014? So I walked out. Clearly they didn’t want my custom. My message to the owners of this place - and I’ve got 35 years experience here so please do listen. Train your staff a little bit better? Avoid this place...
