Food: 8.5/10. For $45 (the Temaki set platter), you get a platter of rice, nori, pieces of sashimi for hand rolls, miso soup, and soy sauce/ginger/wasabi. Amazing, fresh fish for $45, and the whole eating experience is so interactive. You can definitely feed 2 with the $45 set if you aren’t big eaters. The sushi rice was amazing! Service: A quick, no frills eating experience. We were seated quickly, the food came out fast, and the waiter was attentive but not too up in our space. If you do like super super nice, conversational service then you won’t necessarily find that here. I just prefer people who help me when needed, but don’t constantly come up to the table! Atmosphere: Beautifully decorated back wall. Small, cute indoor dining space with a sushi bar and some tables. Covered outdoor dining space. Overall, this is one of the best bang-for-your-buck sushi spots in Manhattan. The quality, the interactivity, the taste, the freshness - Douska is a must visit! Toodaloo!

I really wanted to like this place more than I did. It’s a very hole in the wall, no frills sushi and hand roll restaurant. We had a reservation on a Friday night for 2 people. We arrived and had to wait in this awkward hallway area for a couple of minutes before just asking if we could sit at the bar. It took a very long time for someone to take our order. We ordered the crispy rice, tuna crudo, and a couple omakase sets. The crispy rice was my favorite and also the most affordable. The quality of all the food itself was very good but the slow service and uninviting atmosphere made this experience unpleasant.

Amazing sushi, in an average setting. Walking up to the space, couldn't tell if it was open; but to be expected in the LES sometimes. Inside was tastefully designed. Sat at the sushi bar and was able to see them preparing our meal. Started with a great sake and the tuna pizza, which was delicious with the Truffle drizzle. The Tamaki platter was excellent with a do it yourself type of kit. Sushi rice, nori, and 9 types of fish to enjoy whatever way you like. Sushi was fresh and of the highest caliber. Location - 7 Service - 8 Quality - 10 Ambiance - 8

Decent food, HORRID staff.

MI made it clear NO SOY SAUCE (it's even printed on their receipt). They put a flimsy plastic container of soy sauce with the food anyway that not only spilled on the food but in the bag as well (was takeout). I called and they kept saying "the soy sauce was on the side". When they couldn't "get" that it was spilled over the food I brought it back and they kept repeating that it's on the side, even though very clearly all over the food.

I AM ALLERGIC TO SOY SAUCE! * WARNING * This restaurant is does not take allergies seriously at all!

They wouldn't replace the food and offered me my money back (sans the tip!!) They were nasty and before they began processing the refund someone came up to pay their bill and THEY MADE ME WAIT while they took care of them! Literally stopped helping me to help someone else. Those customers offered to wait but the staffer made ME wait anyway. Those customers then said "it's usually really good here but there's something very off tonight".

To top it off one of their staff who didn't even hear half the encounter called me a KAREN! Very professional. What nerve these staffers have!

If I could give them zero stars I would, or...

Lowkey and chill temaki rolls, I personally think the rice was way too warm but my personal sushi connosieur thought it was fine to have such warm rice. It made the seaweed a bit soggy at times when it was served late but it's not a factor that would deter me from coming back.

I did not like the salmon roll, the fish was chewy for me. Favorites were the scallop, negi toro, albacore, crunchy tuna, yellow tail. The cooked temaki rolls like shrimp tempura, fried oyster had like 35% too much sauce.

I would recommend someone looking for a low-key place to have some good sushi to come by. Is it Michelin star quality? No. But you can definitely sit here and knock back 8 or 9 rolls, leave happy and full.

Don't get the temaki platter unless you know exactly what you're doing. Saw someone order it and she was struggling. It's...
