A no frills dinette serving Dominican food catering to the local residents, and the constant flux of nearby construction guys and hospital staff. The waitress here is phenomenal, polite and has a GREAT memory. She keeps it real about the food they serve and looks out for her customers - love her for that.
It's a "special" regular lunch spot for my coworkers and myself. In special I mean for any occasion where I am starving because I skipped breakfast and needed something filling. This place serves HUGE portions - it is enough for lunch and dinner portion. (I can see why the construction crew likes to dine here.) I guess due to the small kitchen the wait for food here is LONG, takes about 15-20mins for food to come out. So be aware.
I would recommend any of the rice and mofongo dishes. Ordered the soup before and it was filling with all the protein and yuca it contained. For a lighter lunch order a sandwich - Cuban was tasty but the pork was a tad bit dry.
This place gets crowded for lunch so come here early because the dining area is large enough for roughly 20ppl. Many just order and grab to go. If you are dining in - get use to rubbing elbows with you neighbors because the seating arrangement is tight. The eclectic sound system/juke box will churn out Latin music sporadically which is...
Read moreI was a regular customer I ordered from here all the time but I won't be anymore it's clear they do not appreciate loyal customers or maybe you just have to be Spanish idk. I ordered a family special one night that cost $22 I already paid for my food in cash and then asked for a Mojito sauce for my chicken he proceeded to tell me it was $1.00 extra which was new because I've been ordering food for 4 years now and never heard that I let him know that I only my debit as I spent the cash I had handy on the food I just brought and he still refused to give me the sauce which was ridiculous and petty since I always purchase food from them but that will be the last time. The food is okay not great honestly I went more for convenience rather that quality but I think I'll walk the extra 5 minutes walking to EL CASTILLO DE JAGUA 2 who's food is waaaayyyy...
Read moreToday I purchased the shrimp mofongo dish and sweet plantains for the 2nd time since my 1st food order was so yummy a few weeks ago. I noticed that this time the mofongo was super hard dried up and there were very little medium size shrimps(7). Which was a bummer since there was a great amount of mofongo. It just wasn't enough shrimp for the amount of mofongo. Not to mention this is a pricey dish at $24.50. The chef at this restaurant needs to do better at preparing this meal and stop being so cheap with the shrimp, especially when the dish is "Shrimp Mofongo". So I was not too pleased with my food this time around because I absolutely did not...
