My teenager and I went to paint something and have a relaxing fun time. The manager/owner was exceeding unhelpful at every step of the way saying things like "read all the paint bottles and you can find which are sparkly". We were given a catalog of paint colors to go through and then maybe 25% of the were actually available. So another huge waste of time and damper on fun while being talked to like we were morons instead of this system being a non system. When I say every interaction with her was like this I mean every single interaction... To the degree that when went there three weeks later to see if we could pick up our things (as she refused to just tell us what day to come back when we did them... She demanded to know first if we received a call to come in. (We had been on vacation and have no idea) And then demanded to know exactly which day we painted there. I had to tell her to simply go look for our things using my NAME. She reluctantly looked up my name found the things and dumped them on front of me all wrapped up with knitted string and said I should open to see if they were broken. Now why she didn't open them while in this 100% empty shop who knows except she is dreadful. So I asked for scissors. She then proceeded to condescendingly TEACH me how to deal with her knots while struggling with them herself. And then we had unwrapped ceramics, her still standing there, no one else there but us and she made move to pack this up and bag it and when I looked at her she said do you need a bag? I could already hear additional lecturing coming out of her so I said no we carried them out naked. Why would they BE broken in the first place? Well she has everything you have made wrapped and shoved together on one shelf in a jumble but has two other big empty shelves beneath that. AVOID THIS PLACE it ruined what was actually a fun thing to do withy kid. We additionally bonded over loathing the owner but the hassle and stress of...
Read moreI held a family birthday party here for a small group (adults and one 11yr old). Elizabeth was a great hostess and instructor for our clay shaping class. People had the option to create many different objects which I loved -- everyone was able to choose to make something they would really enjoy. She provided helpful instructions and ensured everyone was able to complete their project and have a fun time! We are looking forward to picking up our creations next week. You do have to wait some weeks to pick up your items - this is typical with any pottery as it needs to be fired - just something you should know if you've never done this before.
After we finished our class we had some coffees and iced drinks. A few ppl had some pastries and everyone enjoyed what they chose.
It's great to have this local, small business in our neighborhood. I'm so...
Read moreI love going to Elly’s for coffee whenever I can! The coffee is excellent and the owner Elizabeth is so nice, and remembers my order when I go, even though I’m not in daily. It’s a very cute and whimsical cafe, not super large or meant for long-term laptop work but perfect for a grab and go, or a chat with friends. The smoothies also look great and there’s a new ceramics space in the back that has affordable events and classes/painting. There are also some unique items for sale and some of my favorite coffee roasters - Joe and Intelligentsia! Definitely one of my favorites...
