Empire Shop NYC — Restaurant in New York

Update - Thanks for the response and yes, I did share this feedback with the person who took my order both on the phone and in person. I did stop by later on and they only offered a discount. Appreciate you being open to the feedback though.

My husband and I love a good breakfast sandwich and wanted to try Empire a second time. Initially when they first opened, we did try the NYPD sandwiches but found them to be too greasy for us, specifically the hashbrown. We went back for the 2nd time last week and tried the NYPD again and the avocado toast. The NYPD was a lot better the 2nd time around and they give you a lot given the price. It's a pretty solid breakfast sandwich in the neighborhood.

Unfortunately, I went wrong with the avocado toast. I had assumed, I was going to get the typical avocado toast you would find at other eateries that was mashed up with some seasoning on toast and maybe a small salad with grape tomatoes. At $8.50, it seemed like it would be of good value. Instead, I got the literal translation of the description: avocado and grape tomato over multigrain toast. I opened the take out container and there was one multigrain toast with a few pieces of sliced avocado on top, maybe with a little salt, and a few pieces of grape tomato halves. It was comical and wish I took the photo. I did pass along the feedback as well and they did confirm that's how they make it. From the absolute very beginning of entering the shop you are greeted in a friendly and home like manner while being catered to on every single request. This place has just opened up but it definitely looks like an absolute mainstay to both the neighborhood and my food pallets as both the food, shakes, drinks, recommendations and general atmosphere are fantastic. The owner Danny is absolutely amazing as he has assembled a team of people around him that know exactly what they are doing without being condescending and pushy. He himself is always around willing to go above and beyond any particular request on making sure you enjoy yourself and always come back. Anyone that is too busy on making food or just wanting to unwind before or after work due to hectic schedules can always drop in and request what they want as the food and drinks are made from scratch absolutely fresh every single time. I stumbled upon this amazing small owed restaurant one day while wandering around looking for a quick bite to eat. Upon entering there was a sign that had noted there were empanadas in that day. I will say this, if your ever able make it here when they have them (because they are freshly made), then you'll understand what I mean when I say they're to die for! The owner Danny and his family have shown nothing but great hospitality and a warm welcoming feeling. There's a nice little eating area outside if you're going to dine in.
