China Garden — Restaurant in New York

We ordered Chinese takeout approx. 8 PM today and it did not arrive until 10 PMish. We live a couple blocks away. I called at 9 and 9:30 PM and they kept saying the driver is 5 min away. I called again at 10 PM and they’re like driver is a couple minutes away again. No apologies. I could have picked it up myself or went somewhere else. The driver dropped off the food around 10ish and it was horrible. The food was cold. The fried chicken was dry (most likely old and refried) the rice and egg roll seemed refried (also old and dry). China Garden was my go to mom and pop Chinese food spot for the last few years. In the last year, their quality has gone considerably downhill. I'm assuming they either changed chefs/ are focused on cost saving, which has resulted poorly in the taste/ quality of the food. I used to consistently get spicy general tso chicken with fried rice and it was the best in the neighborhood. Let's face it Chinese American takeout food in Queens is much more bad than good and no where close to where it was 20 years ago. BUT I finally found some delicious food with good value and service. On my first visit I ordered General's Chicken, Pork Egg Roll, Pan Fried Dumplings and Boneless Spareribs and each was by far the best I have had these last several years.
