Dance Matters NYC — Local services in New York

My 5yr old daughter is in her second year of ballet with Dance Matters and we could not be more happy. In addition to being incredible at the art of teaching dance, all the instructors are also warm, kind, caring and welcoming. It’s exactly the dance studio vibe we were seeking, one that is equally competitive and compassionate. I’m so happy my dancer will have the opportunity to learn and grow in such a positive environment.

Throughout the year DM plans special events and informs parents of dance events happening that may be of interest. Last year we were able to attend a special behind the scenes of the Nutcracker at a Lincoln Center, which thrilled my daughter. The DM team communicates really well through their newsletter & social media, you always know what’s going on.

DM has gone above and beyond during the COVID crisis to make online classes fun & available, as well as providing safe in person classes once allowed. They pulled off an exceptional year end virtual recital in June 2020 after all classes were forced online. We can’t wait to watch the virtual Nutcracker they have been working on with all the kids this December 2020.

My 5 year old daughter attends the ballet class at Dance NYC every Friday, and I’ve been consistently impressed with the program. The instructors are highly professional and treat the children with respect, care, and encouragement. It’s a very well-run class that not only teaches ballet skills, but also instills important life lessons like patience, discipline, and how to follow instructions.

Beyond the technical dance training, the class helps children learn how to stay on schedule, listen attentively, and work as part of a group — all valuable skills they can carry into other areas of life. It’s clear that the team at Dance NYC is passionate about what they do, and they’ve created a positive, structured environment where kids can grow in both confidence and ability.

We have been with Dance Matters NYC ever since my daughter was 2.5 years old and they offered a summer class in a small space they rented. My daughter is now 6. I am so proud to be part of this community.

Their growth as a school is very impressive. Every year recitals get better and better. They’re always very responsive to parent feedback. They’re always available via phone, text, emails, and always very approachable in person.

The staff is exceptional! I love all the teachers my daughter has had through the years. I am looking forward to another successful year in September.

I would recommend this school to anyone looking to enroll their child(ren) in an extracurricular activity or if they aspire to be dancers. Their rates are based on the amount of hours students attend and I believe as of now they are reasonable.
