Beware! This place has a weird policy not to sell some items when they are busy and the staff decided who they should reject to sell their coffee!
I stopped by 2 times just to be disappointed. The first time, I stopped by around 2pm and the staff said "the smoked S'mores latte" was already sold out. The second time, I stopped by around 12.45 pm and the item was not sold out so I ordered "the smoked S'mores latte" and I already made a payment. 1 min later after the payment, the staff said "I have to cancel this order" because "WE ARE TOO BUSY" which I don't understand. The staff said there's a line (3 people behind me) and she didn't want the people behind me waiting too long!! What?? How about me who came first? (my order total was $32.5 but she rejected me just to sell $6 coffee to 3 people behind me??) I didn't understand and said I would wait because I already made a trip just for their coffee. After waiting 10 minutes and I saw there's no line. I asked again if they will sell me the S'mores latte. I ended up getting my S'mores coffee after waiting 3 people behind me got their order first. How their policy works is that they just don't care my $32 order and don't care if I waited! They just only care if 3 people behind me had to wait!! Why? This doesn't make any sense! This seems so disrespectful.
By the way, my S'mores latte wasn't even what I saw from other people's videos/ photos! From other people's videos, they heavily smoked their coffee but for my coffee, it was just lightly smoked. Not even 50% smoke when compare to others. Speaking of the taste, it's nothing special. Since I got very light smoke, I couldn't tell that my coffee had been smoked at all. So, I paid $32 just for the show (which was not worth it at all since I got very light smoke show in my video)
This was my worst experience at coffee shop. I saved this spot 2-3 years ago and been wanting to try their Smoked S'more coffee. Because of their early hours, I always missed a chance to go (they closed at 3pm. So early!!) I tried several times just to try their coffee and it's not worth the price and the...
Read moreThe aesthetic of this place is absolutely stunning but it seems as though the person they have running the show is everything less than. There is a short white barista with glasses who was extremely rude to quite a few people, and that was only in the hour or so that I was there. I understand that things get hectic and working this kind of job is tiring, however, the way you talk to people is really important. Itâs a shame to have such a lovely cafe brought down by a barista with such a disrespectful attitude. What was extremely telling was the way in which she interacted with this other ladyâs kids. You could tell the mother was trying her very best to keep her kids from causing any trouble. The kids at one point tried to get a few lids from the selve serve area but the barista SLAPPED THEIR HANDS as they tried. She actually touched them. She even cursed at them on several occasions saying things such as âzero f-word respectâ or âf-word idiotsâ. It was honestly so disgusting to watch and I wish I had the courage to say something but she kept mumbling mean things under her breath behind the bar so I didnât think engaging with her would have been smart.
There was another barista who had a blue scarf on, of tan complexion, and was really cheerful. She tried her to best to accommodate the family and she had such a playful demeanor with the children that they listened to her when she asked them not to do something. Unfortunately you could tell the other barista was bringing the energy down and she would consistently roll her eyes at the barista with the scarf when she was interacting with customers. I guess she was upset that the other barista was being nice?? Sad to watch honestly. Just sad.
If you want to keep your moral up for the day try to visit this cafe when the barista with the glasses isnât there!! Otherwise your whole day...
Read moreI'm a really big fan of Felix AND they make it so so so so so hard to love them, cause roughly 50% of the time, I walk out empty handed and frustrated.
I live at 28th + Lex, which means the Park Ave spot is my local. I feel like the holy grail of any brand is to generate habituation + deep loyalty - and in me - they have both.
I appreciate the beauty that hits my eyes when I walk in - the pinks and greens. I appreciate the smell, the perfectly ice cold water that comes from the side tap - try it!
Mostly tho - I've got a homemade nut milk love; its beyond ration, reason or logic what I'll do for it - and the fact that Felix has it - binds my loyalty SO SO SO SO deeeeeeeep.
Which is - in part - why I'm posting this. For weeks, I've walked out frustrated at nearly all of the times I've walked in.
There's been what feels like too many days that I go in - so excited for that morning coffee, the ritual, the creaminess - to be told that the machine is broken and not yet been fixed. Or there's the time the milk went off. More broken machine incidents. Lines on machine broken. Nobody but the building owner can fix the machine (?). The repair person was gonna come Saturday. Then they didnt. Nobody knows when whatever is broken will be fixed -- and worse -- nobody seems to care (thus this novel of a review).
Oh - and there was the time the train was late (somehow the rest of NYC's coffee shops manage to open on time?) and a staff member arrived late and didn't open the store till 830 despite there being a group of us waiting outside.
I really want Felix to (continue to) be the best and I wanna continue loving on it and going every day -- this comes from that place -- but loyalty is fading fast. Hopefully this propels change. And a fixed housemade nut...
