My best friend and I work in the area . So we decided to go after work and have something to eat. We’ve been there before and enjoyed it. This time around not so much. We were seated in the rooftop & order the sliders. My friend could seen the bar back/cool with our dish carrying on a conversation. Finally our food came and it was cold, we made him aware and his response was that’s how we serve it. Okay.... after seeing our facial expressions & asking really? We’ve been here before and had this same dish. He decided to take it. We don’t usually like to making a big fuss about things we work in the hospitality industry but the food was cold! Then the server brings over our food, we start eating and realize the meat isn’t cooked property or at least to our liking. We bring it up to her attention and she says oh I put it in that way. OKAY?! but not once were we asked for the temperature of the meat on the sliders! After that we just decided to let it be and asked for the check. It was whatever to her like if we were the issue or being a headache. The place wasn’t busy to even say okay maybe due to the volume of customer. After this I don’t think we will go back nor recommend this location to any of our guest.

Not the best experience for a Saturday night. Made reservations for a party of 8 at 8pm, and was seated on the rooftop in a very timely manor. There were 6 other large parties also on the rooftop, with at least 35 people in total, but only one server between all of them. They were very understaffed to the point where it took over 15 minutes just for me to receive a soda. The server was trying her best but was clearly frustrated with the large number of patrons. For the price of the food being fairly high, the quality was not bad. The appetizers were the only issue, offering very large amounts of dip but only a handful of chips to eat it with leaving more to be desired. The bar was crowded on the middle level making it difficult to reach the bathrooms without pushing through what resembled a mosh pit. As for social distancing, there are a few measures in place but nobody was enforcing them. I would not recommend this place on a weekend unless you are in college and are looking for more of party/social atmosphere and less of a restaurant, as the attention was mostly on drinks and the bar. This business is not handicap accessible with 3 floors, with decent bathrooms.

(Last visited 1/1/2023.) After celebrating New Year's Even in NYC, it's time to start the year off right, with mo' drankin'! Lol. We booked a brunch here at Taven29 because we loved it so much last time. Here's why! Atmosphere/Appearance: It's exactly a Tavern. They didn't lie in the name. Lol. Lots of light woods with a light, bubbly atmosphere. There are TVs behind the bar you can check out if you're here for a sporting event. Up front they have these super cute alcoves that you can sit in where you feel like you're separated from the rest of the restaurant. We sat here on our first visit, but at the bar on our 2nd. Service: I can't remember who took care of us either time, but we have never had an issue here, especially with having our bottomless mimosas refilled! Food: I've only had the wings here and I love them. Simple, straight to the point. The mimosas are also made to order so if you want light juice, just ask! We love that! Value: This place won't break the bank at all. Which is why it's so appealing. In conclusion, you'll likely see me here again! Make sure you check this place out if you're looking for a good brunch!

If i could give zero stars I would. Let me start off by saying this is def not one of the best places for brunch. I never experience such bad service in my life. I unfortunately went here for brunch yesterday on Sunday 6/4. While waiting for a table we went to the bar to grab a drink. The bartender didn't even acknowledge us for a good 15 mins. I order the unlimited mimosas and along with my food order. I kid you not the bartender looks at me and says okay without writing down our order. As the bartender was making the drink he puts half and I mean half water along with OJ so of course the drink tasted very flat and watered down. I whine up telling the hostess i refuse to pay for a watered down drink. After seated the rooftop bartender remakes the drink and the manager comes over to state she checked the cameras to assure us there was no water being put in the drink. First of all I would never say that to a customer I know what i saw. She simply says how they use a nectar and how they have to add water so you basically telling me your diluting the drink with water? We whined up waiting 2 hours for our food of course the bartender at the bar never put our order in. Shocker !!! We were there almost three hours never ate, never got utensils, no water nothing. The rooftop bartender apologies and packs our food Togo. The experience was horrible staff was very un-attentive very short staffed. There shouldn't be one bartender for a whole rooftop that doesn't even make sense to me ?? I feel bad for the poor staff who is clearly overworked. I will never be back and would avoid this place at all cost. They need to be better trained more staff and...

This rooftop is actually quite complex, from what my friends and I saw, there were 3 floor that people could sit, the 3rd being the rooftop. Due to Covid-19, they offer heated “igloo” seating which is nice but it is not the same as a rooftop experience that you would normally enjoy before Covid-19. This is of no fault of the establishment, it's just to say that there's no need to be upset if you don't get the rooftop.

The waitress was lively and had a great sense of humor and all the other works we met had the same charisma and energy.

The food, however, was quite sub-par. I hate to complain, but I will provide reasoning for why I felt this way.

My friends and I came on a Thursday night which usually isn't busy and it was evident to us that were one of the few groups that were there. We had ordered an order each of wings, margarita flatbread, mac and cheese, and calamari. Firstly, we were upset that the food was cold when brought to us. As I said, we were one of the only tables seated there, thus, it made no sense to us as to why the food was cold. The wings were dry and overcooked. The flatbread was stale (because it wasn't hot) and lacking any unique flavor. The mac and cheese was good texture-wise but lacked salt. The calamari was actually good though so that was a little redeeming.

The food was made as if a home-cook was having a bad day honestly. I hate to make these remarks but I must be honest. My friends and I decided that it would be best if we just leave at this point and so we asked for the...

I do NOT write reviews for anything! BUT this is the exception because I was very disappointed about some incidents and one specifically that made me uncomfortable. My server was very preoccupied with talking to her coworkers behind the bar as we sat on the rooftop. She disappears for extensive periods at a time. On one occasion I needed some help but no one was to be found looking in our direction .( this is at about 3 pm and there were 3 other parties with 4 waitresses tending ) I put up my arm like a grade school kid attempting to gain someone's attention. A staff member waves hi to me and has the most unfortunatemy fake smile I have ever seen. She then calls one of the waiters over and says to her that some guy(me) is waving his hand over there so I waved back. Our waitress comes with no sense of urgency and asks what I want. I ask for a coke. It comes back to me flat, and she says it's on her LOL. Later I ask for the lady's name that waved back at me and found out to be Stephanie. After my average meal ( definitely overpriced) I went to complain to the manager about this person. Low and behold Stephanie comes up to the podium and asks how may she assist me. At this point I am speechless and I tell her how her behavior was uncalled for and inappropriate especially as a manager. Disgusting person with disgusting attitude. Please SPARE yourself the time and find a different place in Manhattan. Deeply disappointed after...
