During my upcoming trip planning to Korea, I decided to visit the new Korean Cultural Center to gather information last week. Even though I did not have an appointment, the staff was incredibly accommodating. They kindly sent a representative, Cindy, to greet me in the lobby, where she provided me with high-quality brochures and maps that were very informative. Cindy went above and beyond by giving me a brief tour of the center. I had the opportunity to explore the second-floor exhibition space and they even have a library on the third-floor. I particularly like the beautiful cotton-themed display at the lobby complemented by an engaging water flowing video display as the background. I went to visit all the way from Canada with a 4 year old boy to have him experience Korean culture. However, they were closed for renovation. What I am disappointed about is that there was no announcement regarding the closure on their website or google, moreover no sign on their front door. We actually opened the door only to find out the site of renovation construction and no one seemed to care about us. They need to work on communication on their opening so that no other visitors would not come...

I have enrolled in Korean classes beginning in December 2020, and I am going to continue! The teachers and staff of the KCCNY are incredibly supportive and positive. One of the things I most appreciate is the way the teachers incorporate information about Korean culture and history that may not be well-known or accessible to American students (like me) into language lessons.
