Fordham Fried Seafood & Chicken — Restaurant in New York

What more could you ask from a fried seafood spot? It's got that hole-in-the-wall vibe, super affordable, and very tasty.

Happened to be nearby and haven't had fried seafood in quite a bit, so why not get their deluxe (which is like a sampler)?

I ended up Getting the No8 - Seafood Deluxe. It comes with: 1 fried fish 2 fried crabsticks 3 fried pieces of shrimp 5 fried scallops.

I got it with fried rice, but you could also get French fries. All of that for $8.35.

I read bad reviews about the fries, so stuck with the rice. This also came with hot sauce, garlic lemon sauce, and tartar sauce. The rice was really good and if you're okay with fried like I am, everything else was fried perfectly. Good crisp outside, soft inside...all of it.

I also got an order of tostones which were fried perfectly and their mini fridge is stocked with crab salad and potato salad. Both were really good.

And let's just make sure we're clear...this is probably all imitation crab, but I grew up on that in my childhood, so I'm perfectly fine with.

Definitely patronage this shop if you need your fried...

This establishment seems to thrive with locals, workers and people passing thru for years. Located feet's away from the D train subway station entrance, a half a block from the popular Fordham Road and Grand Concourse, and surrounded by commercial and living real estate... It's always busy. They space is old and very apparent. Cosmetically it's not appetizing. I personally have never eaten, there nor purchased their food but, I have walked in with those whom have. They sell mainly for take out but I noticed a few people do sit and eat on the available stool and standing shelf along the wall. They place is run by asians, south Americans, Dominicans and Mexicans. They serve breaded fries poultry, seafoods, rice dishes, plantains, and I think baked goods and fruit juices, coffee and cokes. I've been coming to this place for many years because the food was always delicious and affordable. On my most recent visit 4/13/24, the food was disappointing to eat. The seafood lacked any type of seasoning, tasted really bland and it was soggy when I brought it home 10 minutes later. I had to use tartar sauce and hot sauce to eat it. However the most disappointing part of the meal was the "fried" rice. The rice was very mushy and tasteless. It must have been sitting in the rice cooker too long or prepared with too much water.
