How I never came across this great spot in the time I've lived in the neighborhood is beyond me! I had been looking for an UWS pub with a large microbrew beer selection that also was laid back, more rock than hip-pop, had a good vibe, cozy but not dive-y. Beer Culture is that place!
They have a good selection of board games and maybe (? ) darts too. Gebhard's bar staff is friendly and efficient, they attract a good mix of patrons, and there's not gonna be "a list " or a rope of any kind. It's now my defacto neighborhood bar.
My only caveat- a couple bucks too expensive per beer than I think it's reasonable. Theres something off-putting shelling out $9 for a bottle of beer at a small pub. Maybe if it came with a little umbrella.. They also serve your basic bar food which looked petty good but I haven't tried it yet.

From Atmosphere, Brother Ali, Big L, MF DOOM, Wu Tang and others, you will not be disappointed if you have an appreciation for incredible hip hop. Their tap and craft beer selection is second to none, really. They’re guaranteed to have at least 100 beers you haven’t tried yet, and you’ll probably fall in love with 99 of them. I can not recommend this place enough— and if I could give 10 stars I would. As a local, I was so happy when I discovered this place— and I’m here often......

There's cool indoor seating in front with a sidewalk view, or head downstairs where it's a bit darker and closer to the bar. Upstairs there are bar games (shuffleboard, darts) and it seems like you can rent that area for private events.
My only small ding is that the stools are really high up and makes it hard to sit at the high top tables comfortably (I'm only 5'5 and my knees were knocking the underside of the table). Regardless,...
