So I finally made it to this place and was SUPER excited to say the least. It wasn't crowded thankfully I was worried it would be a long wait considered the hype on social media. Got the family meal, a Macaroni and cheese side, sweet potatoes side, white rice and some collards because I couldn't resist when I saw them making someone a plate with a side of greens...also got cornbread, a cheesecake in a cup dessert, red velvet cake and a homemade sweet tea. Yea I always like to get a little bit of everything when trying new places I like to give fair reviews...can't give a good review with just trying one thing. Anyway i couldn't wait to get home so I ate the greens on the drive home and baybeee they slap. I'm not big on greens at allllll and these def were worth it. When I got home I finally indulged. The chicken was nice and warm definitely tasted fresh and not like old oil or soggy. Nice decent size pieces not overly jumbo but not micro either. Now I like a salty chicken I can't lie so to me it could've used some more salt flavoring BUT it's really good yall. Its hard to find good quality fried chicken like this every where swear they serve it but they be lying. The Mac and cheese was really orange kinda goldish that was a first for me and since we kinda went late and right before they took out the fresh Mac and cheese the serving we got had burnt Elbows pieces. The sweet potatoes were good no complains there I did appreciate that they weren't sliced but actually Mashed and not pureed but still had a nice chunk to it. The rice was box rice maybe idk can't be certain. Either way it was good...only reason I got rice cause my boyfriend wanted it cause aint nothing super special about white rice anywhere, but yea no complaints there either. The sweet tea was refreshing and just how I like it. The cornbread was delicious as well, crumbly but tasty. The cheesecake though with the granolacrumble style crust, creative. The red velvet and cream cheese frosting definitely yummy. So I must go back to try the BBQ ribs and pulled pork i wanna see what that's hitting for. Was it worth they hype....hmm....sorta lol. Great fried chicken, great food, AWESOME customer service it's like they got that chic fila in service of "my pleasure" iykyk....I'd recommend to others and go again for fried chicken. Read moreI recently ordered delivery from Charles Pan-Fried Chicken for the first time to celebrate Juneteenth. My order consisted of the 3 piece chicken (with cornbread) with sides of macaroni and cheese and collards, along with a request for peach cobbler. Unfortunately, the restaurant informed me that the cobbler was unavailable, so I decided to go for the strawberry cheesecake instead. Overall, my experience with Charles Pan-Fried Chicken was quite positive.
Firstly, the portions provided were generous and satisfying. I received three chicken thighs, which I thoroughly enjoyed. However, I had anticipated a variety of chicken pieces to cater to different preferences. While this wasn't the case, the thighs were still flavorful and enjoyable, although they weren't as crispy as I had expected.
The collards, on the other hand, were a standout. They were well-seasoned and cooked to perfection, adding a delightful and healthy touch to the meal. I enjoyed the cornbread as well. The strawberry cheesecake was a delicious choice as a substitute for the unavailable peach cobbler. It had a creamy texture and a burst of strawberry flavor, making it a pleasant way to end the meal.
My only minor disappointment was the macaroni and cheese. It didn't quite meet my expectations in terms of flavor and overall enjoyment. However, this wouldn't deter me from giving Charles Pan-Fried Chicken another try in the future.
In conclusion, I would definitely recommend Charles Pan-Fried Chicken based on my experience. Despite the slight letdown with the macaroni and cheese, the generous portions, delightful collards, and enjoyable chicken and cheesecake made it a worthwhile meal. I look forward to giving this place another chance and exploring more of their offerings.
Ordered from Charles Pan- Fried Chicken for the second time this week. This time, I had their turkey wings smothered in gravy, along with collards, okra, and cornbread wings were pleasantly huge and the food was flavorful and tasty. Everything was enjoyable, and I highly...
Read moreSadly, the hype let me down. I read countless reviews before making the decision to eat there. I rarely treat myself without the kids and was looking forward to enjoying authentic southern cuisine that I didn’t have to prepare myself. I ordered their signature pan-fried chicken dinner which came with cornbread and two side’s - I got collard greens and yams/sweet potatoes. And I also got peach cobbler. Pros - The yams/sweet potatoes were absolutely delicious. The 3-piece chicken tasted familiar, just like I would’ve seasoned and pan-fried at home. Cons - The collard greens missed the mark completely. When cleaning collards, after thoroughly washing, the stems are to be removed and discarded, then the greens are chopped. These collard greens had an abundance of stems. I included pictures so you can see for yourselves. Instead of discarding all of the stems, I decided to keep the rest to show in the picture without the collards. The cornbread was on the thin side and a little dry. Not completely dry but it should’ve come out of the oven 2 minutes earlier. I was given an end piece so 1/3 of it was inedibly hard. Due to the staff doing a great job at up selling me on dessert, particularly the highly coveted Peach Cobbler that they keep warm in the back, I gave in and ordered the peach cobbler. Unfortunately, the peaches were limp and had a slimy texture. The flavor only seemed to include sugar without the standard spices used in traditional peach cobbler. It also had what tasted like soggy bread. I included a picture of the remaining portion that I didn’t plate. The size of the containers for the side dishes and dessert were very small nor were the small containers filled. If it was a Tapas style restaurant then I would have anticipated the small portions. Summary - Aside from the delicious yams, this dining experience left me anticipating a wonderful festive Easter dinner that I plan to cook...
