Generoso's Bakery Cafe & Pizzeria — Restaurant in New York

I’m never ordering from here again. I’m new to the area and was looking for an Italian bakery that delivers. I ordered a package of assorted butter cookies, some linzer tarts, and black and whites. I got a call from the bakery asking for a substitution for the linzer tarts, since they were sold out. I asked for rainbow cookies, and the girl on the phone didn’t seem to know what they were, even though they’re on the menu and they’re an Italian bakery staple. When the cookies arrived, I ended up with an extra box of sprinkle butter cookies instead of rainbow cookies. And oh my, the cookies were AWFUL. Everything had a very artificial taste to it. The chocolate on the black and white cookie was chalky and tasted like the artificial chocolate syrup you put on ice cream. The butter cookies all had a weird flavor profile that included some sort of synthetic citrus flavor. I’m so disappointed in the quality and taste of these cookies, especially considering what I paid for them. I’ll be looking elsewhere in the neighborhood for my Italian bakery hookup...

This is your quintessential NYC Italian-American bakery. A perfect balance of taste and affordability. I would go as far as to say Generoso’s is Sunset Park’s gem, hidden in plain sight. From the fresh ground coffee, to their assortment of well crafted and beautifully presented pastries, you can’t go wrong with your choice. But if you must try something, that would be their NYC style cheesecake. A crustless variety, baked so that outer edges of the dessert almost caramelize. It’s not quite basque, and not your traditional cheesecake, but delicious in every way. All good things are worth waiting for, so do not come in here looking for top speed service. I know the owner and we always got along and shared stories. But she has someone who works there that does not treat all customers equally and fairly. She will by-pass some customers to serve others first and completely ignore you. I brought it to the owners attention when the woman was working and the woman admitted she was doing this to me. She later did it to me again as well as to other family members. I reached out to the owner again, no response, no apologizes. She ghosted me. I cannot support a business that only serves particular people. The owner should have apologizes instead of complaining about...
