GG'S Fish & Chips — Restaurant in New York

I was looking for a good place to get some food and I stumbled across this wonderful place . The guy at the counter was very professional and outgoing having conversations with everyone that came into the building. I ordered two plates; one with fried whiting, Mac and cheese, with candy yams. the other plate was the honey glazed salmon with potato salad and collard greens. Anyone that knows me knows I'm a fatty lol so I had to grab the banana pudding as well. To get more into my review the food smelled really good and I enjoyed the flavor of the fish and some of the sides .. I want to be honest about my review the sides were not truly seasoned to my taste but the food was decent to me I would possibly order other sides the next time I go just because the main portion was not bad at all and had wonderful flavor speaking of the fried fish. My friend stated the salmon and the collard greens were really good but the potato salad was not to his liking. Now let's speak about portions. The amount of food they give in these plates will have you in a sleep coma. The portions were definitely worth it for the price I paid for two plates and two drinks with dessert $64. The food was hot it wasn't like I order $64 worth of food and received a cold plate. Please give these guys a try and find your faves. I do plan to go back for the fish and to try other sides! OVER...

Called before we came to see if they had food left because it was Easter Sunday afternoon. We came right after and was greeted by the entire family when we walked in. EVERYONE was courteous and friendly and it was nice seeing the family together supporting eachother. They insisted that we sit and enjoy our meal, so we did. Nakia took our order and was friendly and bubbly even though her name was being called every 5 seconds! I had to give her a big hug before we left. Customer service was 10 outta 10.

Now the food...this was our second time here and we traveled here from the Bronx because the food was fresh and delicious! The portions are generous and worth every penny! I had the catfish, cabbage, and collard greens. We also had a side of yams and everything was seasoned to perfection. The fish was fried just right. I was beyond pleased with everything, and highly recommend this establishment. There was a food truck that they own outside the restaurant catch it if you can, you're sure to be happy with the cuisine.

Fyi- parking on their block is tough be prepared to drive around if you plan to sit indoors. Also there is counter seating and a few two top tables to dine at inside. I'd call before coming if you're in a group...

Loved everything about GG’s. It was my first time in New York & I couldn’t get enough of it. I stayed in NY 4 days. I ate GG’s everyday. The fried shrimp combo was ever so fresh! Very crispy and well seasoned! Same with the shrimp & whiting combo! I’m from the South and love some fish chi. It was very delicious paired with some hot sauce.

The sides I enjoyed were the Rice & Peas, Mac & cheese, cabbage, & collard greens. Babbyyy! That rice & peas is something serious! Absolutely LOVED it! The Mac was cheesy but not too cheesy, which I loved. It was also very flavorable! The strawberry & peach lemonade was very delicious! Had to go back for seconds! The cheesecake & banana pudding were also very good! Came in these convenient little containers which were perfect for a nice serving that wasn’t too less and not too much. Almost leaves you wanting more.

10 out of 10! I would highly recommend GG's. Love the family oriented...
