Review of Gino’s Italian Restaurant – A Delicious Meal for a Great Cause
Gino’s Italian Restaurant truly delivered an exceptional experience when they generously donated to the Fort Hamilton Tigers football team. Their contribution wasn’t just an act of kindness; it was an offering of their signature baked ziti, which turned out to be an absolute crowd-pleaser. Every bite of their dish embodied the kind of care, quality, and authentic flavor that Gino’s has become known for, making it a memorable meal that the team won’t soon forget.
When Gino’s stepped up to support the Tigers, they didn’t just stop at generosity; they showcased why their food remains a staple for the community. The baked ziti they provided was the star of the show. Upon its arrival, the smell alone was enough to draw everyone in. It was a comforting and hearty dish, clearly made with fresh ingredients and a lot of love. The ziti was baked to perfection — a medley of al dente pasta, rich marinara sauce, layers of creamy cheese, and a perfectly golden, bubbly top that brought everything together. You could tell that no shortcuts were taken in preparing this meal. Each bite offered a balance of flavors that only comes with truly homemade cooking.
The boys on the football team wasted no time digging in, and it quickly became clear how much they loved the dish. Within moments, the trays of ziti started to disappear, with some players going back for seconds — or at least trying to! There’s no better testament to a dish’s quality than a room full of hungry athletes devouring every last bite and asking for more. It wasn’t just about the quantity, though; it was the genuine satisfaction on their faces that reflected how delicious the food really was. The baked ziti gave them exactly what they needed after a long day — a filling, satisfying, and flavorful meal that felt like a warm hug.
Beyond the dish itself, Gino’s generosity speaks volumes about their connection to the community. Supporting a local high school football team isn’t just about food; it’s about showing up for the people around them. In doing so, Gino’s demonstrated that they are not just another restaurant, but a local establishment that values its community and takes pride in being part of its success, whether on or off the field. For the Fort Hamilton Tigers, it wasn’t just a meal; it was a sign that they are supported and appreciated, which undoubtedly boosts morale both on the field and in life.
Gino’s Italian Restaurant has always been known for their exceptional service and high-quality dishes, but this experience takes it to another level. They didn’t have to step up and provide for the team, but they did so with class and a dish that perfectly represented the heart and soul of their restaurant. Their baked ziti is the kind of food that reminds you of a family meal — comforting, filling, and something you’ll crave again and again. It’s a testament to their dedication to keeping traditional Italian recipes alive while sharing them with the community that supports them.
Gino’s not only gave the Fort Hamilton Tigers a meal to remember but also solidified their place as a cornerstone of the community. The baked ziti was a hit — a dish that left the team wanting more and will surely be talked about for a long time to come. If you’re looking for a place that serves authentic, flavorful Italian food while also giving back to the people around them, Gino’s Italian Restaurant is the place to go. Whether it’s their ziti, pizza, or any other classic Italian dish, you can count on Gino’s to deliver both...
Read moreSo a friend of ours told us about Gino’s and we decided to drive the 100 miles from Pennsylvania to try it ourselves. I always make it a point to ask people their names as I find it makes for a much more personal experience. We had a party of eight and although the restaurant was crowded, we had no problem being seated as we called ahead for reservations. Pulling up to the restaurant there is a nice clean look. The Valet parking your car was a nice touch. We were seated in the “Back Room” that holds about twenty eight people comfortably. We had no problem with the space or elbow room and the fact the “Front Room” that seats about 60-70 people is separated from the Back Room makes for a much quieter, ambiance. Although both front and back room were full, it was rather easy to hear everyone at our table speaking and we enjoyed good conversation while enjoying a larger repertoire of musical Genres over the sound system playing at just the right level.
The waiter, Mike, took our drink order and gave us some time to peruse the incredibly varietal menu. While we were trying go decide on what to eat, a basket of fresh, warm bread was placed on the table with dipping oil. Truth be told, we ate three baskets of this luscious treat and I believe all of us would have been happy to just eat bread all night, it was that good.
Our eclectic tastes had us pick four separate appetizers and Seven different entrees. My choice was the Fried Calamari and Day Boat Pan Seared Scallops served with broccoli rabe and sundried tomatoes.
I am a Common Sewer (The unrefined version of a connoisseur) if Fried Calamari haven eaten it on Three separate continents and at least seven different countries. Gino’s is now my #1 favorite. The Calamari was incredibly fresh and tender while the breading was perfectly crisp and had a light clean taste. I did not even dip it into the marinara as the taste was so delicious and pure I did not want or need to adulterate it. I savored each bite and once I was on the last piece I remembered I was supposed to politely ask the rest of the table if they wanted to try some. Ooops. Perhaps I will share the entrée. The Day Boat Pan Seared scallops were prepared to perfection. The broccoli rabe was to Die for. I asked Mike if I could speak with the Chef who prepared such a spectacular dish. And I learned that although Chef Anthony does much of the cooking, the true brains behind the operation was his mother. A tiny woman lovingly called “Nana.”
Desert for me was Tiramisu. I had to skip finishing the scallops and broccoli rabe just to save enough room for desert. When the plate came I almost did not want to touch it as it was a thing of beauty. I am happy I did in fact eat it as this was not your ordinary Tiramisu. It was light and fluffy and delicious.
Every person at my table had an incredible experience. The service was incredible. The servings were so large that we almost all had to take home left overs. The freshness and flavors were incredible. My ten-year-old daughter had the Pizza and she proclaimed it was the best ever!
Gino’s is a Must Experience location for the incredible food. If that is not enough, it is also a Pokémon GO stop!
At the end of the evening I was able to meet and thank both of the chefs for an incredible meal. This was our first trip to Gino’s but I can assure you it will not be our last.
I can tell you from experience, if you find an Italian restaurant being run by a woman called “Nana” you CANNOT go wrong...
Read moreSo sad to be giving this place 2 stars. My parents are from bay ridge and we’ve been coming here from Jersey everytime we visit Brooklyn for years! We made a reservation for 5 ppl for 7:45pm on the Saturday before Mother’s Day. When we got there at 7:30 it was very crowded, told them we were here and waited patiently for over an hour to be seated even with the reservation. Honestly, waiting even when we have a reservation was fine, it was extremely busy and the hostess and manager were both nice. I get it, it’s busy, holiday weekend, what are you gonna do- we were ok waiting and got a drink at the bar. We finally sit around 8:50, order apps and dinner at the same time as soon as we sit down, and receive our apps around 9:30. All good. Then we are waiting until 10:00 to get our dinner. We remind the waiter we still didn't get our dinner, and he has the audacity to say “i have 600 people here, it’s busy, it’s mother’s day” with an attitude. Honestly, we were fine waiting and if the waiter was apologetic or nice about it, or offered to check on it, we would have continued to wait. But his impatience with us, after we had been in the restaurant for 2.5 hours with a reservation and not even received dinner yet, is very frustrating. We get up to find the manager and tell him, he’s apologetic, but another 15 mins pass and we still didn’t get food! The waiter or manager could have at least come over to offer some bread or drink refills, or apologize OR offer to check the kitchen again. My family is blue collar and we have all worked in service jobs so we are patient, kind, and always tip 20%. I have never seen my parents so upset with a dining experience, especially at a restaurant so special to us. We ended up leaving around 10:30pm without receiving our dinner because the whole interaction with the waiter was terrible. The last time we got food here it was delicious, but I can’t speak to the current quality of the food since we never received dinner. But based on service alone I have to give it 2 stars. If I’m waiting that long with a reservation I expect the staff to be kind and understanding, not curt and frustrated with US for asking about the status of our food after ordering over an hour ago! I understand that it’s busy, chaotic, and not the waiter’s fault that the food is taking so long, but I would expect the waiter to advocate for our food in the kitchen instead of showing agitation at us for eating there on...
