I came here with my family the other day and I can say it was horrible experience. It took about 10 minutes for someone to come take our order. The meat they served was cold and soggy and had way to much salt. The fries were too salty as well. The gyro they served was terrible, the meat was cold and soggy and the sauce it came with was terrible. They should at least ask if we would like the sauce on the side. We ordered a burger soon after it was exceptional, I forgot to ask for no cheese I called for the waiter and he just shrugged and left to the another table, and when we were calling him to order few drinks he deliberately ignored us when he was right next to us and when we asked for ketchup he just walked over to us and slammed the ketchup on the table in a rude voice “here” and walked off. At least the guy who cleaned the tables was very sweet. Was ashamed he wasn’t the waiter. And for the record our waiter had a racist tone in his face and voice serving us. Extremely rude service, terrible food and I would not recommend Gyro World Astoria to...
Read morePassed by today the first time after perhaps a couple years. Changes have taken place for sure. Its self service, no seating inside, just outside or pick-up to go. The back is under construction for a café extension, so at the moment the rest room is out of service. Admitetdly their prices are a bit high. Conversely however, the location, taking into account the pandemic we just went through should be considered as a major factor to the price structure. The seating arrangements, may be temporary-not sure-partly due to the pandemic partly due to construction? At any rate, all the above were surpassed by the counter service we received and the quality and quantity of food that came with the order. Dimiris was very friendly, very polite and the food prep was quite swift. I believe the establishment will find its balance and will do good. I would recommend this place as one of the go to gyro (and more) spots in the area....
Read moreNot the same when the boss is split in two locations. Bayside-flushing location is on point and fast. Astoria location, not so much. Its supposed to be the exact same. Its not. I would rather drive 30 mins to go to the other location then walk five mins to this one. I hate saying stuff like that but im not one to keep my mouth shut. I respect the owner, hes a really genuinely nice guy who takes pride in seeing you happy. it can be tough dealing with two locations. Ill give it the benifit of the doubt and go back at some point. Maybe the kid at the counter was new and didnt know the tone of the establishment. Maybe the cooks were new and just wanted to go home. Regardless i spent way more money than i ever have ordering the same thing i have been since its opening in bayside. I dont know. What i do know is i was not happy with the results. Breaks my heart cause this is one of my favorites places...if things change...
