After I saw a coworker wearing the cutest charm bracelet and demanded to know where she got it, I immediately went to the haricot vert website to make an appointment. I went at noon (open) on a Thursday of a long holiday weekend and it was the right choice. When I got there, I had the whole store almost to myself, and by the time I was done (hours later...), the shop was bustlin'.

I recommend making an appointment because they have different crafts available for open craft each day--charm jewelry, collage, workshops, etc. Don't count on walking in and being able to do whatever you want any time or day. I imagine they're so busy on the weekend they have more limited options. I did DIY jewelry craft so I could make it myself. It's $18, it goes toward cost of your creation, you get 2 hours, and the benefit of making it yourself is that you don't have to wait for them to get to yours to attach your charms (this can be anywhere from 30 min to pick up the next day). If you don't have time or are visiting and can't do that, keep in mind the DIY appointment option. They check and tighten your jump rings even if you DIY so that they don't come off after you're done.

SO. There is the shop and little café on the main floor, craft nook upstairs, and they make the pictocharms in the studio downstairs. Drew got me set up in the craft nook, explained how it worked, got all the supplies and tools I needed, then let me wander to pick out what I wanted to make. I had already looked at the website and had some charms I knew I wanted in mind. Then looking at all the pictocharms is so fun. You can go into a trance gazing over all the cute little pictos. 🍒🥨🫒 I'm glad I got the timing I did because it would be overwhelming if it were busy or I were pressed for time (!).

Bless Drew, the patience of a saint as I assembled my bracelet and obsessed over the particular order and placement. He checked in on me and offered aesthetic opinion and only gave positive encouragement. I was thankful I could take my time.

I'm obsessed with my finished piece, and have already worn it. I'm glad to report I wore it working all day and it never bothered me or got in the way. I usually am easily irritated by things touching me but I got my bracelet just the right size of my wrist to not move around or slide down my hand. It keeps it from getting caught in anything or getting damaged. Be aware they tell you these are delicate; you've been informed. The pictocharms are resin coated, they're not impervious. Be gentle with them. This is not the jewelry to expect to wear anywhere--swimming, working out, etc. That's the reason I decided not to make a keychain, too, as I knew I would be sad after it broke being used in a place I'm rough with it. They have free repairs for your piece if it does break, and if you don't live here, and you're not crafty/handy with the pliers, you can mail it, too.

Lastly, consider what you want to make and the price. I knew I wanted to make this a special piece to remember the experiences by, and planned to spend $100-200 accordingly for what I picked out. Yes, the pictocharms are pricey ($18 each, with specials on different days), and I got many that were on the theme for $10 each that day, but they are unique. No one else will have the same charm jewelry. That's the difference. Also there are bundles. I got carried away and ended up buying extra charms beyond what I made into my bracelet because there were too many I wanted. Ultimately I got a sticker sheet, a poster as a gift, trinkets, and some charms to do another piece with at home in addition to my bracelet. Drew put everything in finding bundling pricing to get me the best breaks.

I went beyond what I went in knowing I wanted but I have no regrets because I have the cutest limited edition pieces and the memories they mean to me that my charm bracelet I made will remind me of....

I was so excited to visit this shop but I was quickly disappointed when I realized the price of the items that I purchased. The prices were exorbitantly high for the quality of the pieces. They try to nickel and dime customers for cheap plastic coated jewelry. I ended up buying 3 items that were hundreds of dollars. I was told by staff that I could return anytime after if I had an issue with my items. When I returned home I realized one of my charms was not the one I wanted. I decided to come back to the store a few days later to exchange the one charm and the staff seemed very annoyed with me. It was a hassle to try and exchange that one little charm for another one of the same value. Ultimately, this would have been a fun and memorable experience but this store just seems like highway robbery. The fact that my jewelry is already tarnishing and it’s only been a month is crazy. Save your money and DIY it yourself you can definitely buy higher quality gold plated...

Stopped by to see the dream girl of dream world, Jess, who helped me pick out the most fun charms and create the coolest pair of earrings ever. I got so overwhelmed by how many lil charms there were to choose from since they were all so cute and she helped me narrow down my vibe and made the perfect funky pair that bring me good luck whenever I wear them. The metal charms/clasps haven’t irritated my ears and haven’t tarnished even though I wear them so often and have sensitive skin! I get so many questions about where I got them, and it’s so fun to tell people that they can make their own little earring vibe with Jess and the haricot vert girls. Felt like the best arts and crafts party when I walked in— I wanted to stay forever. 110% worth it to stop there in person and get to look at all the weird/cool/cute/fun options...
