Beautiful new coffee shop in Harlem- I like It Black opened on March 1st and I sadly took until August to discover their delicious and delightful coffee

Owner Daniel was super polite, accommodating professional and nice. The coffee was DELICIOUS - definitely the best coffee I have had in Harlem.

I was envious of the woman behind me who ordered a matcha lemonade that looked so refreshing. I will be back to try the food which looked delicious- avocado Turkey bacon - I am looking at you- and the strawberry iced tea

Super clean, lots of food and drink options, saw some freshly baked muffins cooking that looked delicious - nice owner- wonderful black owned business to support reasonable prices etc

———————— ———————— ———————— After discovering I Like It Black earlier this week, I had to go back ASAP with my partner to try their food. We were both super impressed by their coffee- both for the delicious taste and improved focus after- without the negative side effects we typically experience from drinking coffee from Starbucks or dunkin etc.,

I like it Black- has something for everyone, while their drip coffee was perfect black- they have oat milk and many fruity and refreshing tea and lemonade based drinks on the menu as well.

Whether you are served by the owner Daniel or one of his super delightful baristas (shout out to the amazing Amy) you will be welcomed warmly and treated with kindness. The atmosphere is good vibes here! And they were nothing but eager to answer all our questions about the menu and beans!

Now for the food- which man oh man was so- incredible!

You want to know my cure for the Monday- it's somehow still a pandemic- blues?!? - a breakfast sandwich made by the owner Daniel. Perspective changing delicious.

I HIGHLY recommend the Uptown Cristo- traditionally on a French toast muffin- I opted for a fresh baked blueberry muffin that was so perfectly grilled - ah I am drooling thinking about when I get to eat this again. I ordered my eggs fried with Gouda (SOO melty and perfect) with Turkey sausage patty on this delightfully grilled muffin. It was warm and comforting and filling - just the perfect way to start my day. I washed it down with their peach iced tea which was so refreshing! I like that it is unsweetened but

My guy had the Morningside breakfast sandwich- two eggs any style, avocado, cheese and a Turkey sausage on a croissant with hot sauce - he chose Swiss cheese which he enjoyed thoroughly! He liked the Turkey sausage as much as I did. He was as impressed as I was by the quality and taste of the food and coffee at I Like it Black. He even went in to chat with the owner about where they source their beans (see the beautiful large Merge Coffee Company bag- and hear the nice story behind the family owned company). Roasted frequently in small batches - it's fruity and tasty! You have to try it for yourself!

As a kid, I always loved waking up early on the weekends and getting to go with my dad for a treat at our local café. I would have loved if he brought me to I Like it Black - they have martinelli's apple juice - my favorite from childhood ! And a bakery with amazing cupcakes next door? Childhood heaven! I Like it Black is super dog friendly as they have plenty of benches and tables out front - and so my day was further brightened by a delicious meal enjoying my neighborhood and miring some precious pups

I Like it Black- I am so thankful...

I am so glad I came across this place!

Atmosphere wise: very positive and lovely vibes. I don't say this often but I can feel the joy and love that is permeating at I Like It Black Coffee Shop. I will say if you come in a bad mood, I'm pretty sure you'll leave in a better one. Especially because right next door is a pie shop (my review focuses on the coffee shop side, though I will want to try those delicious looking pies very soon).

Service - the person helping me was new, and being trained, but was amazing. We discussed a few different topics before they were able to figure out how to charge me for an item (I called my food item something different than what it's usually called).

Food - oh my Gods. My sticky bun was so good. it wasn't overly sweet, or overly seasoned with cinnamon, just the right amount. I paired it with a macchiato - which was delightfully the right drink to balance out my taste buds and elevate the sticky bun's taste.

Again, I am really glad I came and can't wait...

I like this place so much … I even applied to work here. With my non-barista skills, I will give an objective review on the coffee and the food here. First and foremost the name says it all. The vibe and the decor brings out a rustic and chic vibe that will make you want to chill there all day. They have outlets by the tables and if they are full. Be sure to check out “Make my cake”, next door you can bring your coffee over . I only drink cold brew , black, nothing else. My gf has had the matcha with lavender syrup which really kicked up the matcha experience. If you fancy a meal the avocado toast is excellent. You can add turkey sausage and eggs… but you really don’t need it. The staff already has made great recommendations every time we go. I really can’t go a day without this coffee. Starbucks who? Dunkin ? Nope I’ll save my few bucks and chill at “I like Black”...

I was waiting for 25 minutes to get an ice latte, it was the first day of the employee so that is ok. The air conditioning is freezing and makes you want to leave the place. After that we ordered a little portion of cheesecake ($8), and we asked the lady not to place it in a plastic box, because we would eat it right away and it is not worth to use so much plastic. She didn't listen and placed the cheesecake at the plastic box. It was like both employees were out of the world. Finally I ask for the first employee if there is a restroom and she says no with the same sleepy/rude vibe that she had making the coffee. It is a really expensive place and you can't even access to a restroom. I wouldn't come back, and I am very sorry cause we love to support women businesses (the owner seemed really nice).
