Union African Hair Braiding (hairbysondo) — Local services in New York

0 stars if I could. I don't know what all of the hype is about. I got my hair done by Sondo. I went in AFTER showing her what I wanted. When i got there, my locs already cut, she said she couldn't do it at that moment. So instead she said she'll do box braids. Okay, no problem. I'm not used to getting my hair braided so I'm not sure how much braids go for. She asked me what I would pay instead of giving me a price. That should've been the first red flag. My fault. I thought she was going to wash my hair. Nope. While doing my hair, 2 people complained about her work. Red flag but ignored it since she already started and my hair was chopped up because she made me cut my own locs. When she finished, 1. The parts were all ocer the place with no pattern or anything. 2. Hair was left out of some of the braids. I asked if she could catch it all. She said yes. If she couldn't she should've just said that. 3. It's the next day and one is already coming out. 4. She does not care about your natural hair. She was very rough combing out some napness. Never. Ever. Going. Back. If I already wasn't out of the state, I'd go and ask for a refund. The bathroom has no window so anyone can sneak a peak. You have to ask for toilet paper. I take some blame for not checking my hair thoroughly once done, but please, go spend your money elsewhere.

Update: Make that 4 braids have no fallen out. 1 day after...

This place is nasty 🤮 from roachs 🪳 to rats !!! The bathroom is nasty 🤢 real nasty mold on the walls no tissue broken window !! No hand soap ughh !! Don’t go here !! My hair is super thin!! I walked out a place to go grab some things but not gonna lie the other place was very packed so I decided to give the other place a try called union african braiding and she messed my hair all the way up !! Don’t go here I paid 400 and she mess mines up but did great on my daughters this place is trash!!! Ughhhhhhhh nasty 🤮 ass bathroom please!!!! Don’t go here they stay outside looking for people hair to do they eat while doing your hair will have your hair smelling like fish 🐠! They did fix my hair the next day I checked them but...

I went last min to get my hair done in medium box braids and Sondo finished fast. I arrived at 4:45pm and my hair was done by 6:20pm. I was prepared to be there for a while but that wasn’t the case at all.I was still able to get a few errands done and I was extremely happy about that too. I’ve been going to Sondo for about 3 years now and my hair is always finished quickly, lasts long and looks good. The prices have went up a bit due to the pandemic but it’s well worth the price and Sondo also will work with you if you don’t have the exact amount.
