I am re-writing this review after a misunderstanding on MY PART that was rectified by the more than gracious owner of John’s Pizzeria who took the trouble to go out of his way and reach out to me, a move on his part that I consider to be extremely crucial in ensuring that ALL his customers are happy with the level of service and quality of food, and also to make sure that negative reviews written erroneously are addressed immediately in order to get to the bottom of the issue. This is not an absent owner, rather one that is present in all aspects of his restaurant. That being said, my personal apologies to the owner AND the hard-working staff that spend countless hours toiling away shift after shift in order to make sure that we the customer have a better experience and the community as a whole benefits in the Greater Scheme of Things. Now let’s continue onto the review: Obviously the food is great, several levels greatER than the competition which is why this family owned business has been around for decades. The place is ALWAYS spotlessly clean and the food fresh. One of the best dishes on the menu, and a favorite of mine is the Linguini Pescatore in the Fra Diabolo sauce. Portions are generous across the menu, which by the way has a vast selection. Yes, there REALLY is a chef in the back and yes, the food is better than your grandma’s best home cooked food. They have a huge pizza oven and pies don’t sit around too long because the place can get busy. Service is EXCEPTIONAL across the board but my favorite server is Suzy. The ambience, especially with the wooden furniture and low lighting can nostalgically transport you back in time to a bygone era when things were simple, food was great, times were good and life drifted slowly as you kicked back and enjoyed a nice home-cooked meal in a warm cosy place all the while without a care in the world. And that’s the best way I can describe John’s Pizzeria once you swing open the heavy wooden doors and step inside this uniquely inviting place where the staff is ALWAYS friendly and the food...
Read moreI have a lot to say about John’s Pizzeria, some positive and some criticisms. They have a lot of variety on their menu, and they are the only pizzeria on the block. The prices are higher than your typical NYC pizzeria but when you see the restaurant aspect of the place serving hot pastas and cooked dishes, you can see why they are charging the extra premium. I don’t classify it as a a pizzeria, it’s a restaurant. They also justify the price tag by sending out a healthy portion size, honestly one pasta dish is probably enough to feed 2-3 people. My biggest disappointment however, is in the freshness and quality of ingredients in the food we ordered. Nothing really tasted that good, and while yes they send a large portion of food in your meal, we had loads of extras because we didn’t really enjoy it. The Garlic Knots were more Iike garlic rolls, very dough with a very very light seer on the outside, not too much of a garlic taste. The pastas really were underwhelming, and you could really taste the lack of freshness. I think John’s is for the person that doesn’t want to go a little further out for a slice, it’s right in your neighborhood. Also for the family that wants to share a couple of entrees. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and a very welcoming atmosphere...

I haven't been at the Pizzeria/Restaurant, but I order a lot of food delivery when I do. First off, customer service is important, always had a male pickup when I called, they were polite, courteous, they repeated the order for delivery, will take either cash or credit card, and always delivers in the time frame specified. The delivery men, are always friendly and polite. Other than being in Rome, the food is superb, you can ask for a different sauce, especially if you have allergies, I cannot have red sauce, so they sometimes will make a suggestion of a white sauce that will go well with my selection. Never displeased with the food nor the presentation. The canolis are one of my favorites, have to ask next time if they have tiramisu, my other favorite. One day I'll go in with a friend, but for right now the delivery of good Italian food, reminds me of being in Rome, and I'm comfortable at home. Check out John's Pizzeria/Restaurant, you will...
