They just started Omakase a couple weeks ago and it’s fantastic. Andy the sushi chef (doesn’t work on Tuesdays FYI) started us with a bite of spicy tuna on crispy rice with an avocado on top and that set the stage for what came next. We got: - a 10 piece sashimi and sushi platter which was decent, standard fair—followed by - the black cod, which was incredibly soft and buttery, and paired perfectly with the miso glaze paste. This was a highlight and my only regret is not taking a photo before devouring it to bits. Reminded me of butterfish in Hawaii. Finally, we got - the Omakase. This was the main act of the night. 5 perfectly prepped pieces of perfection, starting (from bottom to top) with tuna topped with crispy onion, salmon topped with tomato and caviar, yellow tail topped with jalapeño and fried anchovies, salmon belly topped with mushroom and green tobiko (by far our favorite), and seared scallop with a smokey sauce. I think the move here is to go for entrees outside of your strike zone, versus the typical go-to rolls. Get the black cod, get the omakase, and go home satisfied. Spreading the good word about this (not so) hidden gem in Greenpoint. Ask for Andy.

I stopped in randomly on my way to the city about 2 weeks ago for some shumai and shrimp rolls and I really enjoyed my experience. The restaurant is very clean and the staff are very inviting and attentive. I sat at the bar area which was pretty cool. Ordering was very easy( I asked for a small substitute on my roll of which they happily accommodated). They have a lot of menu options that range from rolls, the bento, to soups , the full out entrees. There is ample variety to satisfy most palates. I ordered a drink called the Blushing Tiger and it was really good, not too strong. My food was very fresh too, as I had the steamed shumai and the shrimp roll . Their pick up/takeout section is right at the bar so there is constant traffic in the bar area , however, there is ample seating if you want a quieter dining experience. I have ordered takeout twice since my visit and it’s been exquisite. Definitely 10/10 for sushi

This place is absolute heaven—I’m not even exaggerating! Hands down, one of the best sushi restaurants I’ve ever been to. The quality is outstanding—everything is incredibly fresh, and they offer an impressive variety of sushi and fish that you don’t often find elsewhere. Every bite melts in your mouth, and even the plain sushi rice is unbelievably delicious! Whenever my husband and I dine here, we’re treated like royalty. From our very first visit, we felt genuinely welcomed, and the staff always go above and beyond to make us feel special. They’re so appreciative of their guests that they often surprise us with something extra to try, which makes the experience even more memorable. The atmosphere is perfect for a date night, a relaxing evening, or even a family gathering. The beautiful decor and thoughtfully presented dishes add to the charm. I can’t wait to go back!😍

Amazing food and service but absurd treatment from the staff that immediately needs to be addresses and corrected cause I'm definitely not the first one this has happened to. Get this:

It was a slow night, we came in 1.5 hours before closing versus ordering online on the apps. The bill comes around, I tip 15-16% which is not generous by any means but it's completely reasonable for this type of restaurant category. We also spent like $140 for 2 people so this wasn't some one-off little order.

As we're leaving, some other employee (not our server) chases after me and essentially yells at me "Fix this" and pushes the bill envelope back in my face, hands me a pen and forces me to change the tip. I was in disbelief, it was almost comical.

Listen, 16% is an acceptable tip, I don't care about this social pressure to push to 18%+ because of "inflation." the argument makes 0 sense cause menu item prices go up proportionally, so as does the tip.

Sure, I could have followed these absurd 18, 20, 25% prompts on the screen but that's not my style this isn't a michelin star joint or a place with a 3+ month waitlist to get in. It's a great local sushi spot but this is completely unacceptable behaviour. You can't bully your customers into tipping more. I rarely leave reviews but felt compelled after this experience as I have tough skin but this would be super embarrassing for others, making a scene suggesting you didn't...

Absolutely love KanaHashi - it is a very family energy run company. The owner has created such a beautiful employee family dynamic . I just move to Greenpoint and I absolutely love salmon sushi, and salmon skin salad. Their salmon skin salad —- is absolutely to die for and I am very specific about my salmon skin salads ... and they are balanced and perfectly crisp. As well as the salmon wasabi crisps and salmon tartar. The fish tastes so fresh based on price point . I would say this is my fav go to sushi spot in Greenpoint .

The employees whom work with work with customers at a very efficient friendly energy . Especially the employee name Chris. Chris is an absolute sweetheart , who has always gone out of his way to treat me and my order in the most efficient mannerism. As well as offering custom sushi combinations on what I request. The graciousness of curated my own sushi experience is wonderful. I highly adore him and his energy. He knows my go to double salmon skin salad order . Thank you so much for treating me with the upmost patience and charm - cannot wait to be back to indulge in my crispy salmon skin salad and beautiful smiles that are always...
