I’ve been a loyal customer of this restaurant for a long time and usually enjoy dining in, but my recent delivery experience was incredibly disappointing. I decided to order delivery after getting home from traveling. I was quoted 30–40 minutes for delivery, which seemed reasonable but the food didn’t arrive for over an hour and a half.
After waiting about an hour, I called for an update. They said they’d call me back but never did. I called again 20 minutes later to cancel the order, but they told me it would be there “any minute.” I asked for a discount given how delayed it was (it had already taken double the quoted time, and I would’ve just picked it up myself had I’d known), but they gave me the runaround and didn’t seem to understand what I was asking for, I waited another 20 minutes before the food finally arrived.
The manager called afterward and apologized, saying it was his fault for accepting the order because I supposedly live too far away for their delivery area. That didn’t make sense, I’ve ordered delivery from them before, and it’s only a 13-minute walk from my place. Once he realized that, I asked again for a discount due to the long delay, but he refused and instead offered a free appetizer “next time” if I mention his name. Frankly, that doesn’t make up for this experience.
It’s unfortunate, because I used to really like this restaurant. But after how poorly this was handled, and the lack of accountability or basic customer service, they’ve lost a loyal customer. There are plenty of other great spots nearby that value their...
Read moreThe food the food the food is amazing, beyond belief, 5 stars, Michelin level, as good as any classical style North Indian menu anywhere.
The paneer makhni was delicious and perfect but also distinctive and fresher, more tomato sharpness, original interesting and delicious.
The butter chicken - most of the time it’s the same dish as the makhni with chicken put in for paneer - not this time. This isn’t a microwave special. The chicken and makhni fuse together in a long process before the plate. It’s sublime and rich and fragrant.
We also had dal makhni. Yes we kept it utterly basic. And even this, once more a makhni dish, was rich and distinctive and interesting.
If this had been a top table in Delhi or London I would have been impressed. Hidden in plain sight, in a speakeasy-on-the-streetfront, it’s just amazing.
It might put you off…
It’s strategically located in an absolute hole, creaking neighborhood takeout joint.
The service is friendly-clueless. Sweet folks who just don’t quite know when to refill water or clear dishes (our server had only started work 2 days ago - perhaps different in other days)
But I think I need to rush over to this place before they triple the prices and put out a velvet rope....
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience with this restaurant. I placed an order directly through their website, but right after confirming, they called me and told me I needed to contact a third-party app called "Sauce" to arrange a delivery driver. At no point during checkout was this mentioned on their website. Their response was simply, "call Sauce and ask to send driver, here no driver"—with no explanation, apology, or courtesy. I ended up stuck on hold with Sauce customer service for nearly 30 minutes, only to be told they couldn't find a driver and wouldn't let me cancel right away. After waiting almost an hour, my order was eventually cancelled-again, with no apology or accountability. When I tried to follow up with the restaurant directly, they were rude and even hung up on me. The food itself is okay, but the customer service is extremely unprofessional. I've ordered from them often in the past, but this experience was frustrating, disrespectful, and very disappointing. They really need to improve both their communication and...
