I recently decided to try this viral chicharron place for my best friend's birthday, as she specifically requested CHICHARRON for her birthday. I placed my order online in the morning at 11:42 am, and selected a pick-up time window between 6:10 pm and 6:20 pm since I was coming straight from work. I paid up front, hoping everything would be ready when I got there.
Unfortunately, I arrived at 6:35 pm and found a line out the door. Not a huge issue, though I didn't mind initially. When I spoke to an employee to let her know I was there for a pre-ordered pickup, she asked for my name and told me to wait a few minutes. However, something felt off, and I decided to stay in line just in case. By the time it was my turn, I found out my order wasn't ready yet, despite having placed it hours earlier. I ended up waiting another 15-20 minutes.
While I was waiting, the lady behind me started chatting with me, and the employee at the register assumed we were together and skipped her when her turn came up. It was a bit awkward when the woman found out the wait for empanadas was 45 minutes! That's tough, especially when you already waited long and got your turn skipped. It seemed like they weren't quite prepared for the viral attention they had gotten, and I think they need to step up their game to handle the volume.
On the bright side, the food was fantastic! I ordered the fried pork belly, extra fried yucca, and the "La Krunchy Picada" platter, and everything was delicious. The birthday girl and everyone else at the party liked it. Despite the frustrating service experience, the food was good.
The place itself is small but beautifully decorated and the pink goes right on with the theme. I think they have a lot of potential, but if they want to keep up with the viral hype, they'll need to better manage their orders and wait times. Overall, while the service was a letdown, the food was good. I don't know if Ill be coming back again, maybe after the hype wears off Ill give them...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant, and my experience was far from satisfactory. I was given a pager (#1) and told to expect a wait time of 25-30 minutes for my food. However, after waiting for 30 minutes, I approached the host to inquire about my order, only to be told they were finishing up one more order and I would be next.
After another agonizing 25 minutes, I couldn't help but notice that the hostess seemed to be avoiding me while serving others who had ordered after me. It became apparent that I had been deliberately skipped over. When I confronted the hostess about this, she went on to tell me that the meat for my dish was not ready. This was baffling since I had overheard the same dish being ordered by the customers who were served ahead of me.
To add insult to injury, my order was a single dish, while the two ladies who got their orders before me had ordered two each. Despite my frustration and the fact that I had already waited for over an hour, the restaurant had the audacity to ask me to wait an additional 15-20 minutes for my order to be ready.
This level of service is completely unacceptable and absurd. I simply requested a refund and made it clear that I would never visit this restaurant again. The mishandling of my order, the blatant skipping, and the unreasonable wait times made this dining experience one I won't soon forget, for all the wrong reasons. I’m not rating the food since at this point I did not have the appetite to try it even if it was provided at no cost. therefore can’t say if the food is good or not. ...
Read moreThis place came across my Tik Tok feed and I waited three months to finally try it. We came all the way from Virginia to try this place.
It was worth the drive and the wait! First off, I want to start off by saying the service was great. The place is tiny, but a great warm atmosphere from the owners. They made sure we were comfortable and had enough space to eat.
We ordered the picada, which in my opinion was an incredible price for the amount of food. As a lover of chicharrón, I was shocked that was not my favorite portion of the picada. My favorite portion was actually the carnitas. OMG they were seasoned to perfection and juicy. The yucca frita was also soooo crispy, hot and fried to perfection.
Of course the chicharrón was incredible. Fresh, juicy, and not oily at all. It was literal perfection. We also had jugo de china y jugo de limón. It was so good, I went back from seconds. I have never had jugo naturales tan bueno outside of RD! We didn’t have to wait long for our food as we dined in. They were quick and efficient.
If I ever decide to come back to NY, I will make sure this will be...
