La Macarena Astoria — Restaurant in New York

So I was bought by the good reviews that I read prior to going but now I question these reviews because my experience was the complete opposite.

I decided to celebrate my bday here for Sunday brunch. I called Friday evening and made a reservation for a party of 7 under my name. The gentleman even took down my number. The day of I call them to let them know some of my party will be running late. The gentleman asks me for my reservation name and confirms that it’ll be ok. When my party gets there they tell us they don’t have a reservation under my name when I had just called earlier that day smh but luckily they were still able to sit us (fail #1)

Then we order our food plus the bottomless mimosas. The waiter brings out the pitcher of mimosas with no glasses and then takes a good 20 mins to bring the glasses. (Fail #2) bottomless mimosas are timed.

They also messed up our food order and the presentation of the food wasn’t consistent for the same dish. Some red velvet waffles were presented with sugar and strawberries. The rest didn’t have any. (fail #3)

My friend brought a cake for them to bring out to cut for us. Which she had spoken to someone prior who let her know it was ok to do so. When she got there the cake was taken to the back. After the 2 hours pass, waiter tells us we have to go because there was another reservation coming in. Mind you, some of us were still eating and drinking and my cake wasn’t even brought out. We were being rushed out.

Overall, The service was horrible. Food was mediocre and mimosas were premade in a pitcher, which causes it to lose flavor and bubbles. We spoke to the “manager” after being fed up with all the errors that were happening. Not only did it take for us to ask multiple times for a manager for him to actually show face but he had a idc attitude lol what a joke. We disputed 20% gratuity that’s automatically added on the bill because it wasn’t well earned. After 30 minutes of going back and forth the manager finally decided to remove it.

Long story short, I wouldn’t recommend, especially not for a bday celebration and definitely not for brunch. Maybe an OK place for just drinks and hookah when other places are not available, but besides that I wouldn’t recommend. Spend your...

Bad bar experience. I went there with some friends on a Saturday night. My friends wanted some drinks from the bar . We all went to the bar which was 4 of us. I told the bartender I wanted 2 margaritas and 1 mojito. I even showed him on his tablet the drinks and with my fingers I showed him the number of how many drinks we wanted just in case he didn’t hear me. At the end I told him separate checks but he said no which I don’t know the reason why he refused. I didn’t mind , but then he just left so with his attitude that he was already kinda giving I wasn’t sure if he was going to make my drinks. We waited a little and nothing . My friend went to the other side of the bar to ask for drinks since we weren’t sure . Once my friend came back with 2 drinks she bought the bartender showed up too with the original drinks and an extra mojito I never asked for. He saw me already with a drink on my hand and made a face. Since I asked him already I was going to take the drinks and pay but I told him and move the extra mojito away since I never asked for that one. He got upset . Don’t know why and just took all the drinks away. We were missing one drink and felt bad for my friend, so I also went to the other side to get my friend his margarita with another bartender, but once I got there the original bartender whispered something to that bartender. He just looked at me on turn around and was with another customer . Obviously this made me feel he wasn’t going to take my survey because of the other bartender. I left the bar because I was not going to waste my money with those bartenders. I understand is busy , I never made a problem when he said no to giving us different checks for the drinks , and I wasn’t going to refuse the drinks I original order since I already order them. My first time going this past Saturday and it was alright, but got a little confused at a point. Got there with friends around 10pm and we had a table. At some point during the night, one of the employees came to our table and told us we had to either purchase a bottle for the table we'd been sitting in for a good while or get out of the section and let another group use our table.

I understand that it's a business, trying to sell bottle service, but we weren't warned or anything prior to this happening. We were there to celebrate my friend's birthday, thankfully she didn't mind standing the rest of the night but my group agreed that it was a big downer for that to happen. We were smoking hookah and still had tabs open (and actually consumed constantly) so it wasn't like we were taking up space without contributing.

I am willing to go back but now I know to not go for a table at this place, I'm better off at the bar and not have to suffer embarrassment or inconvenience my friends when...
