Latest visit:There were worms in my food. I'm done trying this place. Not coming back again.
Food and drink is great. Also is the artwork. I prefer to go for lunchtime. I've been hassled by fellow customers before (in front of bartender and waiters) with no one really caring as long as i kept paying...which has made the space uncomfortable for me. I refuse to go after 4pm now. That being said, i go with company and have gone back for lunch time (more attentive workers).
Edit:I wanted to bump the place to a four out of five after my past experiences, however, my added review is because I was discriminated.
This spot has been consistent with the quality of their food. I really enjoy bringing people along . I also find the service to be mostly consistent as well. The reason why it is not five stars, even as a regular, is because this past Sunday between 3pm and 5pm, on the second floor, a server named Victor targeted me when I went with a couple of other people. Generally, the place has been pretty great except for after work hours on the weekdays-due to harassment by drunk patrons as mentioned in my earlier review. I had to complain to the manager about this specific server. He had specifically singled me out for my looks, spoke to me as if I was making trouble or was a troublesome child, and he ignored the clients I came along with. He even slammed the water we had asked for (40 minutes late) onto the table. He was passive aggressive and unusually aggravated, and he had no issue with any one else in the room or at my table that day. It made me very uncomfortable, made those who I came with very uncomfortable, and I was confused and upset by the hostility expressed explicitly towards me. A young, white man kept coming towards our space and near to the kitchen, because his very young child kept stumbling around. He was not singled out. I was. I could not even address this problematic behavior towards the server, Victor. That's how hostile he was. That behavior of targeting individuals is not okay, not professional, and should not be tolerated. I really hope that my complaint made was passed onto this particular server and his discrimination taken seriously. I want to come back, but if the hostility will not be addressed this place will be losing about five regulars- at the very least. Please correct this before more clients...
Read moreOne word, Shame, if I would be one of the waitresses who "served" us during this Labor Day I would be embarrassed and feel very bad, but they didn't seem to care. Today we brought our friend to treat him for his birthday to our favorite restaurant that we always enjoyed. Our 2 year old daughter was with us. We were one of the first tables to seat inside, there was no menu brought to us, I had to grab it myself, we waited 10 min for high chair. We were very patient, we saw restaurant got crowded after we came, so we knew kitchen and our waitress are working hard to get all the orders, however after an hour of waiting, we saw everybody who came after us getting orders but we still were waiting. At this point my toddler started to cry for food pointing at others peoples plates. I tried to give them chance to fix the situation, we came few times to ask about our food and wondering why we are not getting it although people who came after us already eating. Our waitress was busy mixing drinks at the bar and seemed to be bothered that we are keep asking, she gave excuses that probably because our order is bigger it's still in making, but that wasn't true, we were table of 3+ baby versus table of 5 people came after us and already eating. I asked to at least bring our baby food so she won't cry, they said sure, after that, 20 min passed and they brought food to 3 more tables, but they couldn't make grilled cheese for our baby. We had to leave when we were told again to wait 5 more min, again, waitress said she doesn't know what to say and all we can do is wait, she didn't care and wasn't apologetic. This was a birthday celebration for our friend and it was our go to place before this incident. I once saw something like that happened there before with another table, people left because their brunch food was still not out after an hour. Now this happened to us and of course we won't be coming back. If I would be an owner I would definitely look into this situation, this is not the first time, who knows how many people had similar experience and decided to take their business somewhere else. Again it's a shame, we loved the place, but this disrespectful and unprofessional attitude we experienced from staff today made it impossible for us, as well as our friends and their families...
Read moreIrish Pub but do not expect irish Coffee The location is great at the corner of Cabrini Avenue and 181St Street with a view of the Hudson River as you enter and reasonable parking is available up the block. I used to live in the area and now return frequently to visit friends. At one time it was the venue of choice for lunch or dinner. However as of late the place seems to have lost it's bearings. The food is ok but not as good as other nearby establishments. The Irish stew was good at lunch on one day but not so good on an evening a week later.. Although it claims to have an Irish pedigree, at least by name, the management has never made any attempt to give the bartenders the tools to make Irish Coffee which I consider to be unforgivable. We could not get any coffee of any type after 12 midnight. At times when coffee was available earlier in the evening the bartenders clearly did not know how to make the Irish coffee. Perhaps the crew should be taken downtown to a PJ Clarke's and to be shown how it should be done. The employees may be poorly treated by management as they do not appear to be happy group. These are not Starbucks happy campers. On at least one occasion I was told by one bartender that only alcoholic beverages can be purchased at the bar area and was denied a request for a ginger ale with a piece of lemon. I ended up buying a beer as I was meeting friends there. I am writing in the hope that service will improve as I visit the area frequently and do like the physical set up of the...
