After finding this place on a best of Brooklyn list, I was pretty excited to try it out, but in hindsight I would have been better off going to that one pizza place some people may know about a block away. The sourdough itself is very good, the pizza toppings range from unimaginative to pretty bad (probably skip the clams and cheese pie) and the fries that come with the burger are easily top 10 worst fries I’ve ever had. I was curious about the oysters, but having asked our neighbors at the table next to ours about them, their review of the $4/pc oysters was pretty discouraging to even try them. “So-so”, they said, while their face was reading something a lot less polite.
Our waitress clearly forgot to put in one of our orders because they for some reason refuse to write anything down, then when asked about it said it’ll only be 5 minutes as if it was coming all along. In her defense, it took only about 5-7 after I asked, but that’s conveniently the amount of time it takes to fire a pizza in a brick oven anyways so it more or less proved she forgot. Honesty would have looked better.
The orange peel rosemary oil they pour over the olives kind of washes the salt and subsequently the flavor off the olives themselves, and it must have been hot, since it also cooked them, which gave them the exact same texture and similar flavor to cheap shelf-stable canned olives such as Lindsay or Pearls. This place is a bar through and through that just happens to serve pizza because they had exceptional drink options and the one genuinely good thing they serve is the charcuterie plate. So in a summarized review of this place: Come here for drinks, get a charcuterie plate to share, then don’t waste your time and head to L’industrie or any of the bars that have pinball a block or two away. The food, today on a Monday night was unfortunately forgettable and...
Read moreI don’t normally feel inclined to leave reviews but this one is necessary. Unfortunately I had the worst service here after coming in with high hopes. Arrived and was seated inside with one of my friends, the restaurant was 40% busy, the first server took our order (pasta and margarita pizza) and did not come check on us for a long time after, 40+ mins only to drop the pasta from a second server. My friend did not get his pizza for another 20 min, and had to ask again what might be taking long. During this time we were not checked on, my pasta was cold because I was trying to eat slow In hopes that me and my friend could enjoy a meal at the same time. No explanation or even question to how we were enjoying the meal or if they can get us anything else. We had to fish for a server the entire time.
After asking for our check from a 3rd server, we paid the bill I decided not to tip. I felt this was fair due to the lack of attention, concern and service.
As we finished the signature the 3rd server took the device and snatched our glasses off the table and stomped away from the table with aggression not even concerned why this was the case. I looked up at this woman with a shocked face that we were even treated this way after receiving horrible service only to get a nasty expression from her.
I would never return and would recommend the pizza down the block not even because the resturant lacked service but also because the food...
Read moreI recently dined at Leo, and honestly, it wasn’t quite what I was hoping for. We decided to sit outside in the 90-degree heat as I had my tiny Italian greyhound with me, but the welcome we got just felt a bit off—it definitely set a strange tone for the evening. Not long after we settled in, a large golden retriever nearby created quite the scene, knocking over plates and glasses, and it seemed like the staff didn’t really care about it. While I was enjoying my meal with my dog on my lap, he accidentally took a few sips from my water glass. I was caught off guard when a waiter actually reprimanded me for it, which was pretty embarrassing, especially since we hadn’t even been offered a water bowl for my dog. I also noticed some staff members standing nearby, rolling their eyes and whispering about our table, which felt really unwelcoming. Plus, the food didn’t seem as good as it did during my last visit. As someone who’s been coming to Leo for a few years and has recommended it to friends, I'm really disappointed. I don’t think I’ll be recommending or returning anytime soon, which is a bummer because I had much higher...
