Lety's Bakery and Cafe — Restaurant in New York

I recently came in to order a cake for my best friend’s birthday. I chose Letty’s because my co workers and I usually get pastries here. From the moment I presented my cake idea they were dismissive and rude. I thought maybe it’s just a bad day I usually come here and don’t deal with rudeness. So I proceeded to order the cake with them. I was very specific of what I wanted and asked if my requests weren’t possible to please call me. When I went to pick up the cake it wasn’t necessarily what I asked for and I was also given attitude for my response. The writing was sloppy and in a completely different color of which I had asked for the cake to be. I asked if it was possible for it to be changed, the person helping me said she will ask and the person behind her said in Spanish “just tell her it will be ugly”. I then stated im just asking if it’s a possibility given that I didn’t ask for what they gave me. They then said “you either take it or you leave it” and were not apologetic at all about the situation. In fact she sort of blamed me for “not being specific” when the issue in the beginning was me being TOO specific. Honestly, maybe a little bit more professionalism is needed. I think a business should also take accountability when they MESS UP. Don’t order your special event’s cake here they do not take it seriously and will serve you what they want rather than what you ask...

This is my go to dessert spot as I never have issues with the quality. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of their customer service. Today, I went in and asked to see their selection of flans and available sizes for a potluck event.

A male Asian employee took my order. He assisted me when I asked to see the sizes of flans available. However, he thought it’d be funny to address my questions with sexual innuendo jokes. “Do you have a 9 inch flan available?” “OH, I have a 9 inch ma’am” “is 9 inches the largest size you have?” “Yes ma'am it’s pretty big” he said it in an obvious tone looking for a reaction. Of course, his female coworkers laughed along thought I didn’t think it was appropriate whatsoever.

Such a let down. If only their team was as great as...
