This store, slightly higher-priced than others in the neighborhood, has a superior selection of wines and spirits, a knowledgeable staff, and a welcome discount card for repeat customers. HOWEVER clerk insisted on the illegal practice of asking for I.D. for credit card purchases. (Mastercard's website says one need only present an endorsed card to make a purchase). This despite my having shopped there while she was behind the counter, a few days previous. I complied while informing her of the rules. The next time there, I paid for my large purchase with cash. She proceeded to run every bill through her counterfeit detector. I have since discarded my repeat customer card and have shopped at other liquor stores. I am hoping her distrust has nothing to do with my being mixed race--that would smack of the Old Bay Ridge where people of color were less...

I've been here three times in the past two months. The first time I was looking for a unique item that they were happy to order for me. The second time I went searching for a specific tequila. Although they didn't stock it, they pointed me to a lesser known product that would fit my particular menu needs. Not only were they right, they saved me some money and introduced me to a new alternative. During my last visit I described my Italian menu and they offered three reasonably priced varietals. As someone who used to enjoy shopping from the previous owners, I must admit that this staff is much better prepared to deal with discerning customers. New to the neighborhood but I've been several times including most recently to stock up for a party. While I appreciate the large selection of wines and spirits, both my wife and I, have each commented on the unfriendlieness of the staff. It's not outright rudeness, just a lack of welcoming, a lack of enthusiasm, an indifference which feels a bit uncomfortable. There's a lack of engagement which I find unusual in a wine store since discourse with the staff can be important. Pricewise I think they are fair. Perhaps not the absolute lowest price you can find but not inflated prices in my opinion.
