This place is a gem!
Wish I had discovered it sooner, and if you don’t try their sandwiches you are missing out. Oh, but don’t forget the well seasoned and satisfying soup.
The love and care they put into the quality they serve is incredible and not frequently encountered. This is no cookie cutter fast food joint.
Limited menu but what they have is done with a unique twist and an awareness of how to pull it together in a way will make your heart sing.
No bland food, but sensitively seasoned with an eye to texture as well as flavor—from the fabulous crunch of your bread to the amazing 4 day in house brined turkey set off perfectly by its accompaniments—yum!
I want to try everything but can’t let go of the turkey I love. I almost had forgotten that a turkey sandwich didn’t have to be the meat in a soggy boring piece of bread with cardboard tomato, ho hum mustard and a wilted lettuce leaf.
There should be a line out the door and down the block. Maybe I shouldn’t tell people and keep it pretty calm and relaxed. Just a few tables, a smile as you enter, pride in their product. Get the picture? Get there soon, and don’t be off put because it doesn’t look like your typical menu. It isn’t typically made—it is great instead.
My new favorite place—it will...
Read moreHands down the best sandwiches in the whole capital region. Super high quality ingredients and everything is always really fresh with tons of veggies snuck in for such a unique and delicious combination of flavors. Mallo’s is my absolute favorite spot for a quick bite, the staff are so nice and they always have really good music and ambiance. A lot of restaurants put 0 effort or flavor into their vegan menu options.. not Mallo’s. You’d think vegan food is their specialty because they have 2 absolutely phenomenal vegan sandwiches. The Veggie can be ordered with homemade cashew cheese sauce that is to die for, and the Cauli-Reuben is what dreams are made of (caramelized onion heaven). If you have room for it, try their homemade potato chips! I can’t recommend Mallo’s enough, it’s 100% worth the trip to...
Read moreHeard this place was one of the best in Troy but was very much let down. I bought the Italian sandwich which is way overpriced ($13) & sounded great until I received it & there was some kind of salad dressing on it that tastes & looks like thousand island but the description only called it a Vinny which I assumed was vinaigrette. They also claim to make their own capicola which I was looking forward to for it to only be ham with no spice or heat to it at all. Ik everybody make cappi differently but that’s not even hot ham which would be closer to cappi. The sandwich (which I ended up throwing out with only one bite taken) looked decent but nothing I would consider better than a...
