On Monday 9/3/18 when I first arrive to this location which was recommended by a friends of mine, I saw that it was full. Now it was late at night so I’m like wow this place must be good this late and all this people wow... so we waited on line for couple of minutes. Now let me step back... the over all appearance of the place was ok... looks bright and updated but it was not clean didn’t expect it to be spotless because of the time of the day... fast forward to the ordering. It’s my first time to this establishment and I’m am accompanied by my cousin visiting from a different country... we Heard all the raves about the empanada so we wanted to try them I had never had an empanada and she never had empanada... this is where everything went downhill the lady at the counter was downright rude have no customer service skills at and could care less about us... when our order was ready she spoke Spanish to us... calling out our order number in Spanish. It took a while to understand she was talking to us. Then my friend was over a charge because he wanted a Snapple however he received both Snapple and ginger ale... even though we told her we only wanted the Snapple she wouldn’t take it back... aside from the despicable costumer service... the empanadas were fantastic however the server left a bad taste in our mouth...

Nice little spot with a great variety of empanadas (50 flavors to choose from). I tried the Spicy Chicken (wheat flour patty) and Black Bean & Cheese (black beans + feta + mozz cheese inside maíz patty). The Spicy Chicken was delicious - not very spicy in terms of heat, but the flavor definitely used a lot of (delicious) spices. Chicken tasted high quality. The wheat flour (fried) patty was perfectly crisp. The Black Bean & Cheese was surprisingly filling and I loved the mix of the feta and mozz cheese - it made for a super gooey texture. The maíz patty was a great flavor and had a good crunch too. Service was friendly and smiley. Nice music playing in the background and had good AC inside. Price was very affordable and worth it for the quality. Will definitely come back.

I really used to love this spot. It's gone down hill over the years. I've moved 5 hours away and the empanada game is not the same. So when I happen to be in town for the holidays you know I'm craving that hot crispy goodness with the perfect hot sauce* I ordered, everything came, and the only thing I was overly hyped about having the red hot sauce was literally a joke. I noted on each item specifically I only want the red hot sauce since you can't pick unless you want to buy more. But for my free ones, I wanted the red sauce. Guess how many I received ? 1 out of 5. Like you could have just forgotten to put it in the bag vs giving me everything but the red sauce would have been better.

So I always come here but this time they upset me and I was in shock! I was driving home late night and I wanted to make an order over the phone so that way when I get there I can have my empanada ready. I called for a pickup when this lady told me they’re closing soon so they can’t take a pick up order but I can arrive in person. I was confused because that did not make any sense. One, she never told me the time of closing so that if I were to arrive the doors wouldn’t have been closed. Two, I am actually saving them time by placing an order over the phone first and then paying when it’s ready upon arrival rather than waiting 5-8 minutes for one empanada. She put me on hold then told me it’s not possible because they’re closing but I would have to get there to make the order. I said I’d rather order now to save time because it’s already late and I don’t want to waste more time. She refused to take my one order of one empanada and told me if I’m getting there in two minutes then I can just get there and order in person rather than on the phone. After all that she managed to hang up on me with an attitude. I’m in shock they couldn’t take a phone order knowing that’ll benefit them time wise if then closing was the issue instead of me wasting time to get there, park my car and walk inside to place an order than could have been done over the phone and I could have just paid for an empanada that could have been ready by the time I got there expediting their closing time. This happened on...

Vibe is come as you are!!! Excellent for lunch, or a quick bit. Seems low-key and staff was organized and helpful.

Now for the food: Dropped by to kill time as my phone was being fixed nearby and spotted this spot right across the street. Wish I had access to my phone to take pics of how juicy my chicken fajita and cheese steak empanadas were. Had the option to have baked or fried empanadas, but I went with fried, because let's face it... I wanted a treat. I choose the less spicy rose sauce (maybe Mayo based?).

Both empanadas were hot, fresh, crispy and absolutely delicious. Not too salty as many Spanish restaurants tend to be. Hands down the best empanadas I've had in NYC thus far. Worth $3 each. If my mom made empanadas, this would be it.

Be careful eating them as they can get messy if you want to inhale it the way I did. The cheese sauces squirted out onto my pregnant belly both times... my kid is gonna love this place.

Since I'm a few months in with child, I have to use the restroom every 3 blocks in the city. I must say it's tight in their restroom, but the toliet looked clean, and all stationaries were stocked. It gets the job done-- no complaints if you truly need it. If you have a significantly high BMI, your butt cheeks might graze up on the tissue paper dispenser--- so you might wanna try the baked empanadas.

Nevertheless, 10/10 recommend for something warm...
